Hours: Full Time, shift pattern of 4 on 4 off.  7am to 7pm and 11am to 11pm rotating.  
Contract Type: Permanent

In a nutshell  

As a Certifying Engineer within Cabin Maintenance, you’ll be trusted to keep our aircraft interiors operating to the highest standards of safety, reliability and presentation. You’ll lead small teams, certify maintenance activity in line with regulatory and Virgin Atlantic requirements, and act as a key point of contact between Technical Control and operational teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where your judgement, technical expertise and commitment to excellence directly influence on-time performance, safety compliance and the customer experience.  

Day to day  

  • Certify allocated cabin maintenance tasks in line with CAA regulations and Virgin Atlantic procedures  
  • Lead and supervise small teams, including Cabin Technicians and third-party suppliers, to deliver safe and timely maintenance  
  • Act as the focal communication point between the team, Technical Control and relevant stakeholders  
  • Ensure accurate and compliant task certification and technical record completion within e-MRO and associated systems  
  • Deliver technically clean, safe and reliable aircraft, supporting On-Time Performance and technical standards  
  • Champion efficient working practices and contribute to CMS briefings and operational updates  
  • Support performance management and development conversations within your team  
  • Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring full adherence to Engineering, Health & Safety and airport regulations  
     

About you  

  • Hold a valid B1 Aircraft Maintenance Licence - essential
  • Must hold at least 1 type ratings for one of our fleet aircrafts such as  A330, A350, B787
  • Bring light and/or heavy maintenance experience, ideally within a commercial aviation environment  
  • Have completed a recognised Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship or hold equivalent operational aviation experience  
  • Demonstrate recent experience within Aeronautical Engineering  
  • Possess strong knowledge of airworthiness standards and regulatory compliance  
  • Are confident supervising small teams and fostering accountability and engagement  
  • Communicate clearly and professionally across technical and operational stakeholders  
  • Have a working knowledge of relevant engineering IT systems  
  • Hold a full UK driving licence  
  • Take pride in delivering high standards, working safely, and continuously improving how things are done

Core responsibilities: 
Specialist with broad knowledge with in the subject area that is able to solve problems and advise on specialism. May lead small projects and with direction from line manager. 
Key responsibilities: 
To efficiently carry out maintenance tasks and lead teams to deliver the highest maintenance, safety, and reliability standards. Act as the focal point of communication between the team and Technical Control and where required, third party interest to support efficient and timely maintenance, completed on time. Accountable for ensuring accurate certification of tasks and all admin in e-MRO . Demonstrate clear leadership and understanding of efficient working practices and actively promote within the working environment. . Meaningful people engagement to ensure team is appropriately supervised, and where possible add to development aligned with Department strategy. . Be aware of effective control of costs budget. Support revenue generation and control of cost. . Drive compliance with Engineering safety.

Qualifications
  • Aircraft Maintenance Licence, Light and Heavy maintenance experience, recognised Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship, or an equivalent level of experience in an aviation operational role. Hold Aircraft type ratings relevant to area.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid Full driving licence
  • Recent experience within Aeronautical Engineering
  • Good working knowledge of efficient working practices/techniques and able to support changes to working practices.
  • Be knowledgeable of Health and Safety Procedures.
  • Possess a sound knowledge of company procedures.
  • Working knowledge of relevant company IT systems.
  • Have experience and technical knowledge of the Virgin fleet a/c types, sufficient to determine the airworthiness of any component or system and/or to provide troubleshooting guidance.
  • Demonstrate an ability in supervising small teams.
