Energy Systems Senior Manager

Purpose of Role: This leadership role will bring coherence and focus to TCE’s role in offshore energy. The role will ensure that TCE’s systems leadership role in shaping offshore energy to deliver Net Zero and energy security is well defined, well aligned, and well supported among our customers and key stakeholders. Working under the Strategy & Systems Director and alongside the Marine Strategy, Marine Delivery Routemap team, Energy, Infrastructure and Nature sector teams, the role will ensure our leasing and broader de-risking activities fully support our role. The post holder will support TCE relationships and partnerships with key energy sector stakeholders including NESO, Ofgem and NGET, and will support interfaces with energy systems wider stakeholders like DESNZ, GB Energy, and others. The role will support and feed into the marine and enterprise policy team on UK and relevant international energy policy, advocating forward-thinking policy positions that support our strategy.

Main accountabilities:

  • Ensure whole-systems coherence across TCE’s energy sectors, by ensuring Routemap methodologies deliver clear outcomes into leasing strategies and programmes.

  • Support activities that lead to effective integration between offshore leasing by TCE and strategic energy network design by NESO (particularly for offshore wind and CCS)

  • Support TCE’s role in de-risking offshore and coastal energy networks, supporting key partners and stakeholders and strengthening the attractiveness of our offshore energy leasing programmes and projects.

  • Contribute to TCE’s role in offshore/ coastal energy system security and resilience, supporting relevant relationships across government and others to ensure our seabed management supports Government’s policy objectives.

  • Support management of TCE’s relationships with NESO, NGET and Ofgem, ensuring these are managed as key strategic accounts.

  • Be the stakeholder lead for networks and energy systems for Mission control, DESNZ and key others.

  • Contribute thought leadership on Energy policy, working with the Marine & Energy Policy Senior Manager to develop clear positions and actions for TCE which secure and enhance our role, and support delivery of our enterprise objectives

Most important skills based requirements:

  • Strong systems thinking capabilities, demonstrated in practical use in complex stakeholder environments

  • Direct knowledge of UK energy systems in a net zero context, spanning technology, end-users/ consumers, supply chains, markets, policy and regulation.

  • Demonstrated experience in policy shaping, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to define and hold enterprise positions under scrutiny and challenge.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, enabling impactful engagement.

  • Familiarity with sustainability principles and their integration into policies
