At M&S, we're transforming the way legal support is delivered across one of the UK's most recognisable retailers. As our Employment Litigation Paralegal, you'll play a key role in helping the Employment Legal team manage tribunal litigation, improve processes and embrace technology-enabled ways of working. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a varied caseload, partner with stakeholders across the business and help shape a modern, efficient legal function

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting Employment Tribunal litigation across a complex, fast-paced retail business. You'll work closely with employment lawyers, HR and Employee Relations teams, using innovative tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve efficiency while developing your legal and commercial expertise.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you’ll do 

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Support the day-to-day management of Employment Tribunal claims, ensuring deadlines, correspondence and procedural requirements are managed accurately and proactively.
  • Prepare and coordinate key litigation documents including witness statements, correspondence, bundles, chronologies, case summaries and settlement documentation.
  • Work with HR, Employee Relations and operational stakeholders to gather evidence, coordinate disclosure exercises and support factual investigations.
  • Maintain litigation trackers and reporting, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
  • Use Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI tools to support drafting, research, summarisation and workflow efficiency while maintaining confidentiality and quality standards.

Who you are 

Your skills and experience will include:

  • You'll have experience supporting or managing Employment Tribunal litigation, including areas such as disclosure, witness statements, bundles, pleadings and hearing preparation.
  • You have a strong understanding of Employment Tribunal processes, deadlines and case management requirements.
  • You're highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and comfortable working in a busy litigation environment.
  • You possess excellent drafting skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse evidence and present clear, practical recommendations.
  • You're a confident user of Microsoft 365 and generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, with a keen interest in process improvement and legal technology.
