We’re reinventing payments.
In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing.
Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year.
But we’re just getting started.
Our people are the driving force behind our success. They are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage. We hire exceptional people and give them the autonomy, trust, and ownership to thrive. The results take care of themselves.
The role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Employment Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. You will play a pivotal role in providing pragmatic, solution-focused employment law advice across the organisation, particularly in the context of complex employee relations matters. You will support our European expansion plans and experience of the employment law landscape in Spain, Italy and France, in particular, would be beneficial. Reporting to our General Counsel, you will collaborate closely with the People and Legal Teams, as well as external counsel and other stakeholders, to support business objectives.
What you will do…
- Provide clear, concise and pragmatic advice on a wide range of employment law matters, including ACAS and Employment Tribunal claims, while ensuring alignment with business values and legal requirements.
- Draft and review employment-related documents, such as contracts, People Team policies and handbooks, ensuring they meet legal standards, whilst reflecting the business’ tone and values.
- Manage and advise on employment litigation matters, working with external counsel as needed to achieve favourable outcomes.
- Lead and manage employment law projects, providing timely and business-focused legal advice that supports the business’ goals and drives commercial success.
- Offer training and guidance to the People Team and other teams on employment law, internal policies and best practice.
- Work closely with a range of business teams to support cross-border expansion across Europe.
What you will bring…
- Qualified lawyer with 3+ years of post-qualification experience in employment law across UK and Europe.
- Strong knowledge of TUPE, Employment Tribunal procedures, UK/EMEA employment law and experience applying IR35 regulations (focusing on employment law, status assessments, and compliance).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal information clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and geographies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Pragmatic mindset and an interest in the e-money and payments industry, with an enthusiasm for innovation in technology.
- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.
Dojo home and away
We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.
That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.
With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.
Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?
If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.
If the following speak to you, let’s talk:
- You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
- You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
- You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.
