Tiro – The Company

Tiro is in growth. We’re not a start-up figuring out if this works, but we’re not a corporate machine either. We’re an established SME with high growth plans & things are starting to accelerate...

We partner with industry to solve real workforce challenges through science and technology apprenticeships. We don’t just deliver training – we help organisations build the capability they need to grow, by developing job-ready talent that drives measurable business impact.

Why this role (and why now)

We work closely with employers in science and tech & our clients are at an inflection point — Their sectors are under real pressure to build capability, not just hire around it. That’s driving a different kind of conversation. More strategic. More commercially relevant. Higher stakes.

And that’s presenting a growth opportunity & dictating how we grow.
We’re building a sharper, more focused growth engine:
  • clearer verticals
  • better-quality conversations
  • stronger partnerships
  • and a more deliberate approach to winning business

That’s where you come in.

The role
You love the new business role — but you’re not a typical biz dev manager.

Yes, you know you’ll be expected to go out, build pipeline and close deals. That part is non-negotiable.

But the art of how you do it, matters just as much to you.

You enjoy operating as a consultative growth partner, not a transactional seller.
You spend time understanding how businesses actually work — where their capability gaps are, how they grow, and where apprenticeships can genuinely add value.

You enjoy better conversations.
Better-qualified opportunities.
And ultimately, better deals.

You’ll own the full journey — from first conversation through to close — and you’ll be expected to close cleanly. Clear scope, aligned expectations, no mess handed into delivery.

It’s a role with autonomy, but also accountability. You’ll have a number. You’ll be trusted to figure things out. And you’ll be expected to deliver.

Who this works for
You’re already in a sales, business development or growth role — and you’ve realised you want more from it.

Your growth mindset demands;
More depth. More challenge. More learning.
You enjoy winning. Properly.

Not just getting deals over the line but understanding why they should exist in the first place.
You’re curious — you ask better questions, you listen properly, and you don’t rush to pitch.
You’re commercially minded and target-driven, and you’ve got high standards.
You care about what you sell and how you sell it.
You build relationships that last, not just deals that close.
And you’ve got resilience. You don’t expect things to land first time, and you don’t lose momentum when they don’t.

Where Tiro takes you
This is the kind of role where, if you lean into it, you don’t just hit target — you level up.
You’ll develop real capability in:
  • consultative and strategic selling
  • navigating more complex buying environments
  • building deep expertise in specific sectors and verticals
  • and understanding how a business actually scales

You’ll also be part of shaping how we grow — not just executing someone else’s playbook.

Hiring process

We keep it simple and focused.

You’ll start with an initial conversation to understand your background and what you’re looking for. From there, we’ll go deeper into how you think about sales, discovery and winning business.

There’ll be a practical stage — not to catch you out, but to understand how you approach real situations. And a final conversation to make sure expectations are aligned on both sides.

No unnecessary hoops. Just enough to understand how you operate. And for you to understand how we operate. Win-Win.

Package
  • Competitive base salary

  • 28 days holiday + bank holidays
