Job Description
We're looking for a passionate, strategic communicator to join J.P. Morgan's Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Communications team to support media relations for J.P. Morgan Payments . In this role, you will secure impactful stories in key top tier, mainstream, trade and regional media outlets to reach key audiences, promote new partnerships and solutions, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
As a Communications Manager in CIB Communications, you will coordinate and execute an external communications strategy for the Payments business across the EMEA region. In addition, you will support the media relations strategy for Onyx by J.P. Morgan, the firm's blockchain business unit, planning and implementing proactive and impactful communications campaigns to support the Onyx business globally. You will also collaborate with functional partners and communications colleagues to help raise awareness of the Payments business - and ongoing innovation - externally, focusing on the EMEA region. You will work closely with the Global Head of Communications, Payments, and Head of Global Media Relations, Payments, to provide strategic advice and guidance to the EMEA Payments business and stakeholders in the region as well as Onyx globally. You will also be part of the EMEA Media Relations team, and work with the Head of Communications for EMEA and the Head of Internal Communications for EMEA Payments.
Job responsibilities

  • Raise the visibility and awareness of J.P. Morgan Payments in EMEA as well as Onyx globally to increase consideration among target buyers, partners and the fintech/payments community
  • Develop and execute a communications strategy to proactively tell the J.P. Morgan Payments story in EMEA and Onyx globally with our clients and partners and manage incoming requests
  • Deploy strategies to target key media outlets that reach key audiences
  • Establish, maintain and deepen relationships with key media outlets
  • Serve as counsel to our spokespeople and partners on media, reputation and communications strategy
  • Draft and edit communications materials
  • Protect and enhance our reputation passionately
  • Partner with EMEA Payments internal communications efforts
  • Draw on CIB Marketing and Communications resources to ensure strategic alignment with the company's priorities
  • Travel to and staff key events as needed and appropriate


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Relevant experience in media relations or public relations within the technology/fintech/payments industries, with deep knowledge of and relationships with media in related landscape
  • An obsessive attention to detail, a deep respect for journalism, and an appetite for reading about the subject matter
  • Demonstrated experience in creating tailored messaging as well as understanding of the PESO model
  • Passionate storyteller with ability to communicate clearly and concisely through superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, networking and presentation skills, creativity and ability to generate big, new ideas and take (smart) risks
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues across lines of business, regions and functions to lead strategy and execution while navigating internal stakeholders
  • Ability to manage large-scale, complex projects with discipline, speed, flexibility, adaptability and precision
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with outstanding judgement, problem-solving ability and resourcefulness; ability to self-motivate and work independently
  • Unquestioned ethics and commitment to maintaining the firm's high standards related to risk, compliance and its Code of Conduct
