Each represents a single, unified solution, overcoming challenges and taking brands direct-to-consumer. Our client portfolio includes globally recognised brands such as Coca-Cola, Nestle, Elemis, Homebase, and Proctor & Gamble.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity for a commercially driven Ecommerce Manager with strong experience across ecommerce trading, inventory, visual merchandising, buying and digital marketing.

The Ecommerce Manager is a core part of the Ingenuity client services team, with end-to-end responsibility for ecommerce trading, commercial performance and execution across a client account.

This is a high-ownership role that sits at the intersection of ecommerce trading, buying, merchandising, inventory and marketing. You’ll use data and commercial insight to make decisions that maximise sales and margin, ensuring the right products are presented to customers at the right time, supported by the right marketing activity and aligned to stock availability.

You’ll own the trading calendar, translate buying and product strategy into compelling on-site visual merchandising, monitor inventory and sell-through, coordinate marketing activity across multiple channels, and identify opportunities to maximise margin while reducing aged stock and returns.

You’ll work closely with buying, category, merchandising, operations, creative and channel specialists, acting as the key point of coordination to ensure commercial priorities are reflected consistently across the customer journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Trading, Inventory & Site Performance

  • Own ecommerce trading performance across conversion, AOV, COS, margin, sell-through, stock cover, availability and new vs. returning customer performance.
  • Build and manage the trading calendar, incorporating product launches, seasonal events, promotional activity, key commercial moments and inventory priorities.
  • Analyse stock depth, stock cover, sell-through and product performance to identify trading opportunities and risks, proactively adjusting site and marketing activity accordingly.
  • Partner with buying and category teams to understand product ranges, seasonal shifts, newness, product lifecycle and inventory positions, ensuring ecommerce activity reflects commercial priorities.
  • Use inventory and sales data to identify opportunities to maximise full-price sales, support overstocked categories and minimise aged or slow-moving stock.
  • Monitor competitor pricing, product ranges and promotional activity to ensure clients remain commercially competitive.
  • Identify and execute site optimisation opportunities across product pages, category navigation, landing pages, UX and onsite search.
  • Ensure the site is consistently updated with accurate product information, offers, banners, new product listings and promotional content.
  • Translate product and buying showcases into compelling on-site visual merchandising, ensuring key product stories, USPs, newness and seasonal priorities are clearly communicated.
  • Use customer, product and trading data to continuously improve the ecommerce experience and commercial performance.

Product & Lifecycle Returns

  • Analyse product performance, customer behaviour and returns data to identify trends, issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with category, buying, customer service and operational teams to understand the drivers of returns and identify opportunities to reduce return rates.
  • Use returns insight to influence product content, imagery, sizing information, product descriptions and customer communications.
  • Identify underperforming products and recommend actions across content, merchandising, promotion and marketing to improve sell-through.
  • Track product performance throughout the lifecycle, from launch and newness through to promotional activity and end-of-life.

Marketing & Channel Management

  • Act as the central point of coordination across marketing channels including SEO, PPC, Paid Social, CRM, Affiliates and Influencers, ensuring activity is aligned to the ecommerce trading strategy.
  • Work closely with channel specialists to ensure marketing activity is dynamically aligned to stock availability, product priorities, margin targets and commercial objectives.
  • Direct marketing activity towards products and categories where there is sufficient stock depth and a clear commercial opportunity.
  • Identify opportunities to use paid and organic channels to support high-margin products, priority launches and overstocked or slow-moving inventory.
  • Set and manage channel budgets, optimising and reallocating spend based on live performance, commercial return and inventory position.
  • Partner with creative and content teams to brief assets that reflect product priorities, seasonal campaigns, key launches and visual merchandising requirements.
  • Leverage CRM and email platforms to support customer lifecycle, retention and targeted product activity.
  • Drive new customer acquisition while identifying opportunities to improve CLV, conversion and overall commercial return.

Buying, Merchandising & Vendor Collaboration

  • Build strong working relationships with buying, category and merchandising teams, ensuring ecommerce activity is aligned with range plans, stock positions and commercial objectives.
  • Coordinate with buying teams and key vendors to understand upcoming product launches, product availability, seasonal priorities and key selling points.
  • Attend brand and product showcases to understand product features, USPs, seasonal stories and commercial priorities.
  • Translate product showcase and buying insights into effective onsite taxonomy, product categorisation, rich content and high-impact visual merchandising.
  • Ensure product launches and seasonal range changes are reflected accurately and effectively across the customer journey.
  • Challenge and influence stakeholders using data and commercial insight to ensure product, stock and marketing decisions support overall trading performance.

Client & Project Management

  • Act as the key day-to-day ecommerce contact for your client, proactively managing performance, expectations and communications.
  • Own and deliver projects across ecommerce trading, inventory, visual merchandising, returns reduction and marketing optimisation.
  • Represent the client’s needs internally, ensuring plans are delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Contribute to QBRs and monthly reporting, delivering clear, commercially grounded performance narratives and recommendations.
  • Present inventory, trading and ecommerce insights to clients and senior stakeholders, clearly articulating opportunities, risks and recommended actions.
  • Balance client ambition with operational capacity, escalating issues and solutions proactively.
  • Take ownership of key ecommerce initiatives from identification through to implementation and measurement of results.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with buying, category, merchandising, operations, data, creative and channel teams to identify and unlock growth opportunities.
  • Establish clear communication between commercial, inventory and marketing teams to ensure activity remains aligned throughout the trading cycle.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients and help new channel teams integrate into existing account workflows.
  • Share market insight, ecommerce best practice and commercial learnings across the wider ecommerce team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in ecommerce trading, ecommerce management, merchandising or a similar commercially focused role, ideally within a fast-paced retail, D2C, marketplace or managed services environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and ecommerce trading, including stock cover, sell-through, availability, product lifecycle and aged stock.
  • Demonstrable experience working closely with buying, category or merchandising teams and using their insight to influence ecommerce activity.
  • Experience with visual merchandising, including translating product and brand priorities into effective onsite presentation, taxonomy, navigation and content.
  • Experience analysing returns data and proactively implementing changes to reduce return rates.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with an understanding of margin, COS, promotional mechanics and profitability.
  • Able to connect inventory position with marketing activity and make informed decisions around where traffic and investment should be directed.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels including SEO, PPC, Paid Social, CRM and Affiliates, with the ability to coordinate channel activity against wider trading priorities.
  • Data-literate and analytically confident, with experience using ecommerce analytics and reporting tools such as GA4 and comparable platforms.
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and turning trading, customer, product and inventory data into clear commercial actions.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to own initiatives from planning through to delivery and measurement.
  • Excellent communicator with proven experience managing multiple stakeholders, including buying teams, vendors, clients and internal specialists.
  • Natural problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members is desirable.
