Job Description

Vertex Distributor Region - Marketing Industrial Placement (12 Months)
Paddington, London, UK

Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Europe) Ltd
Location: London Paddington, UK
Duration: September 2026 to August 2027

About Vertex
Vertex is a global biotechnology company that aims to discover, develop, and commercialize innovative new medicines so people with serious diseases can lead better lives. As a leader in breakthrough therapies for Cystic Fibrosis (CF), Vertex combines cutting-edge science with a mission-driven culture focused on improving patient outcomes.

About the Distributor Region
The Distributor Region spans 40 markets across Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, where Vertex operates through trusted third-party Distributor partners rather than local affiliates. The Distributor Region Marketing team, based in London Paddington, provides strategic direction, commercial support, and launch excellence across this diverse and dynamic region.

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and curious Marketing Industrial Placement Student to join our Distributor Region Marketing Team, reporting to the Marketing Director.
The role focuses on the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) franchise and supports the commercial launches of Vertex’s latest CF products across Distributor markets.
You will be closely supported by members of the marketing team, ensuring strong mentorship, hands-on learning and day-to-day guidance. A distinctive feature of this placement is the opportunity to collaborate with marketing colleagues from a range of Distributor partner companies — gaining direct exposure to different geographies, business cultures and healthcare environments.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will contribute to a broad range of impactful marketing and commercial activities, including:

  • Supporting the development and rollout of CF marketing strategies across ~40 Distributor markets

  • Assisting with planning and execution for major CF product launches

  • Helping develop launch toolkits, training materials, digital assets and partner-facing resources

  • Supporting website content development, updates and maintenance to support regional marketing needs

  • Supporting Congress and event activities, including planning, logistics, materials and post-event follow-up

  • Collaborating with Distributor partners across CEE, MEA and LATAM to gather insights and feedback

  • Building relationships with marketing colleagues across diverse companies and cultures

  • Supporting cross-functional alignment with Medical, Market Access and International teams

  • Organising internal meetings, workshops and regional training sessions

  • Assisting with project management, budget processes and tracking launch timelines

This is a hands-on, internationally focused placement offering broad exposure and meaningful responsibility.

What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from students who are

  • Studying a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, Communications or a related field and seeking a placement year

  • Interested in international pharmaceutical marketing, healthcare innovation and product launches

  • Strong communicators who enjoy working across cultures and geographies

  • Organised, analytical and comfortable managing multiple priorities

  • Curious, proactive and eager to learn within a dynamic environment

  • Motivated by work that supports patients worldwide

What We Offer

  • A collaborative, inclusive and internationally focused environment

  • Close mentorship from the Marketing Director, and marketing team colleagues

  • Opportunities to develop skills in cross-cultural communication, commercial excellence and project management

  • The chance to contribute to meaningful work that impacts patients across diverse global markets

  • Competitive placement salary and benefits
