We make health happen

At Bupa, our purpose is simple: helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. We do this by combining trusted care with resilient technology that keeps our services available when customers need them most.

As Director of Technology Resilience, you’ll lead the strategy and execution that ensures our critical technology services remain robust and recoverable during disruption. This is a senior leadership role with direct impact on customer trust and regulatory compliance. You’ll shape our resilience operating model, drive improvements across cloud and data recovery, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to embed resilience into every layer of technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and deliver the technology resilience strategy for BGIUK, aligning with regulatory requirements and group standards.
  • Lead a specialist function covering resilience testing, vulnerability remediation and data recovery.
  • Oversee resilience testing for critical IT systems, including third-party managed services, ensuring recovery within defined tolerances.
  • Champion resilient design principles for cloud architectures and promote established patterns for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Implement chaos engineering practices to identify weaknesses under stress and proactively address them.
  • Drive vulnerability identification and remediation through architecture reviews, scenario testing and asset mapping.
  • Monitor and report on resilience metrics, including recovery times, backup validation and adherence to operational resilience requirements.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders to secure buy-in for resilience initiatives and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years’ experience in technology resilience or operational resilience within regulated financial services.
  • Proven ability to design and execute enterprise resilience frameworks in complex organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, NIST CSF, ISO 27001 and DORA.
  • Experience managing resilience risk across third parties, including cloud service providers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with credibility at executive and board level.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, make decisions under pressure and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Recognised qualifications in technology resilience or cyber security are desirable.
