Overview
The Distributed Platforms team is looking for a Director to own our vmware virtualization service. This role will assume responsibility for our global virtualization engineering team and developing and executing our virtualization roadmap. You will focus on scaling our service as we experience rapid growth, ensuring operational resliancy and continuing our automation journey.
The ideal candidate is a vmware expert with a proven record of managing vmware estates at scale in highly regulated and mission critical environments.
Role
In this position, you will:• Run our global virtulization enigneering team• Own our vmware virtualization service and roadmap• Focus on how we run and operate our vmware platform at scale• Partner with our SRE teams to continually enhance our platform resilency• Assist with major operational incidents where level 3 engineering is required

The ideal candidate for this position should:• Have expert level knowledge in vmware• Have experience running large teams supporting vmware estates• Experience in supporting technologies like Linux, Storage or container runtimes is ideal• Have experience driving automation and observability and resiliency improvements• Have strong communication skills capable of presenting to an executive audience• Have excellent problem solving and analytical skills• Stive to challenge the status-quo and drive continual improvement
