Director, Product operations - Open Finance (Europe)
Overview
Open Finance is accelerating across Europe as banks, fintechs, issuers, acquirers, PSPs, and digital platforms adopt new API driven models. Mastercard is building an API led Open Finance platform, commercialising:
- Open Banking Data (AIS)
- Open Banking Payments (PIS)
- Mastercard Network Data (supporting improved decisioning, optimisation and customer journeys)
Our mission is to combine these capabilities to enable next generation digital experiences across payments, onboarding, lending, SME workflows and multi rail journeys.
We are seeking a Director, Product Operations and Market Performance - Open Finance to join the Product Operations organisation. This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, delivery, and commercial teams, ensuring Open Finance solutions convert, perform, and scale reliably across European markets
Responsibilities
(1) Market performance, conversion and product health
- Own monitoring of customer conversion, activation, usage and performance across Open Finance solutions
- Track and analyse key performance signals (success rates, drop offs, reliability, latency, error patterns)
- Identify recurring friction points impacting customer outcomes and commercial success
- Translate performance insights into clear actions for Product, Engineering, and Delivery teams
- Ensure product issues are prioritised based on customer and market impact
(2) Bank connectivity and issue triaging
- Lead operational oversight of bank connectivity performance across European markets
- Act as a focal point for identifying, triaging, and resolving connectivity-related issues
- Coordinate cross-functional response across Engineering, Delivery, Product and external partners
- Ensure transparency and clarity around root cause, mitigation plans, and resolution timelines
- Contribute to improving long-term connectivity resilience and operational standards
(3) Product experience and continuous improvement
- Own the end-to-end feedback loop from customer experience to product and operational improvement
- Partner w/ Product, Engineering, Delivery translating customer issues/ performance signals into clear actions
- Ensure root causes are identified, prioritised, and addressed - not just resolved symptomatically
- Contribute to building repeatable playbooks for onboarding, performance monitoring, and issue management
- Help evolve operational standards, readiness criteria, and escalation paths to improve reliability and scale
- Ensure learnings from incidents, performance trends, and customer escalations are embedded into how the platform is delivered and operated
All About You
(1) Essential experience
- Experience working on API-driven, data-heavy, or connectivity-based products (payments, OB, platforms, or similar)
- Proven background in product operations, delivery, customer success, or technical account management
- Hands-on experience managing performance, incidents, or complex cross-team issues at scale
- Comfort operating across product, engineering, and commercial environments
- Experience working across multiple European markets is a strong advantage

- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn messy data into clear insights
- Highly structured problem-solver; calm and effective in high-pressure situations
