The Director will drive revenue and profit growth within Control Risks’ Compliance, Investigations & eDiscovery practice, with a primary focus on investigations, compliance, forensic accounting, expert witness services, litigation support, and disputes. Working closely with practitioners, leadership, marketing, and client teams, they will develop market-facing strategies, client campaigns, and pursuit plans to generate and convert opportunities among legal, compliance, audit, and risk professionals. The role prioritises growth in investigations, compliance services, and disputes-related expert work, while positioning digital forensics, eDiscovery, and data analytics as supporting capabilities and treating due diligence, business intelligence, and asset tracing as secondary areas of focus.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Achievement of annual revenue through individual business development activity, sales origination, campaign execution and close collaboration with regional Compliance and Investigations leaders.
  • Develop new business opportunities across investigations, proactive compliance matters, forensic accounting, expert testimony, litigation support, damages and valuation disputes, accounting disputes, insolvency-related matters, monitorships, workplace misconduct, fraud, corruption, sanctions, AML and financial crime, CFIUS and national security compliance, and regulatory or enforcement matters.
  • Create top-of-funnel opportunities by identifying target accounts, mapping buyers, prioritizing prospects, supporting outreach and building relationships with law firm partners, corporate legal departments, compliance officers, investigations teams, internal audit, risk and disputes stakeholders.
  • Help position Control Risks as a multidisciplinary compliance, investigations and disputes partner that combines investigative expertise, forensic accounting, compliance advisory, expert testimony, global reach and the ability to cross-sell digital forensics, eDiscovery and data analytics where they support client matters.
  • Contribute to targeted campaigns, client briefings, webinars, roundtables, conference strategies, social media activity, thought leadership and other market-facing initiatives that generate qualified opportunities for Forensics practitioners.
  • Partner with marketing, practitioners and practice leaders to create bespoke collateral, pitch materials, client messaging, case studies and sector-specific content for investigations, compliance reviews, regulatory response, CFIUS and national security compliance, and dispute-related matters.
  • Develop market opportunities around testifying and consulting experts in litigation and arbitration contexts, including damages, valuation, forensic accounting, accounting standards, lost profits, post-acquisition disputes, insolvency, business interruption, fraud loss quantification and other financial or investigative expert needs.
  • Support pursuit strategy and sales processes by helping shape client needs, scope services, coordinate practitioner involvement, prepare commercial approaches and maintain momentum from initial outreach through qualified opportunity and proposal stage.
  • Leverage CRM, outreach technology, event data and campaign tracking to manage prospect activity, monitor pipeline development, identify conversion opportunities and report on business development progress.
  • Bring an entrepreneurial and practical approach to testing new channels, messages, partnerships and event formats that help senior practitioners reach the right buyers for sensitive, complex and time-critical matters.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • 7+ years of sales, business development, commercial or client development experience in investigations, compliance, disputes, forensic accounting, expert services, litigation consulting or related professional services.
  • Demonstrated understanding of buyers and referral sources for investigations and compliance-led work, including law firm partners, corporate legal, compliance, internal investigations, internal audit, risk, security and disputes stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand and clearly communicate multidisciplinary Compliance and Investigations offerings, including internal investigations, proactive compliance, regulatory response, fraud and corruption matters, workplace misconduct, monitorships, sanctions, AML and financial crime, CFIUS and national security compliance, forensic accounting, litigation support, damages and valuation expertise, and technology-enabled services that support compliance, investigations and disputes work.
  • Experience developing pipeline through targeted outreach, referral-building, campaigns, events, social media, thought leadership and relationship-based business development.
  • Experience working with senior practitioners to shape client conversations, capture needs, support pursuit strategy and move opportunities from initial interest to qualified opportunity and proposal.
  • Strong commercial judgment, including experience supporting pricing, scoping, fee models, margin analysis and deal strategy for consulting or professional services engagements.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, sales outreach tools, campaign tracking and related business development technology.
  • Working knowledge of how digital forensics, eDiscovery, data analytics and AI-assisted review can be cross-sold in support of compliance, investigations, regulatory response and disputes engagements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with practitioners, marketing and leadership to develop bespoke collateral, sales materials, campaign concepts, client pitches and event strategies.
  • Entrepreneurial, creative and proactive approach to identifying new opportunities, testing market approaches and translating complex advisory services into clear commercial value propositions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
