Job Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead a small, dynamic team of developers and testers delivering high-quality software for our mission-critical, cloud-based Agiblocks commodity trading and risk management product.
In this role you’ll own the full lifecycle of a highly flexible and modern solution deployed in international ag- and soft-commodity trading companies where operations cannot fail. Customers rely on this system to manage trades, risks, logistics, billing, financial integrations and compliance. Your work and leadership must result in bullet-proof, high-availability software that seamlessly integrates with other systems including market data and ERP connections. Job Description:

This role focuses on day-to-day team leadership, technical execution, and collaboration with the CTO/Product Manager(s) to deliver new features and maintain existing systems.
 

The Development Manager plans and manages all

  • development operations activities for the hosting infrastructure for the applications built and deployed by Agiboo
  • development activities for projects (including customer funded) and release activities.  This includes software engineering, quality assurance testing and test automation.
  • major consulting / deployment / implementation projects that are subject to percentage of completion revenue recognition rules that impact Development and/or DevOps.

The role requires a high level of collaboration and soft skills in order to effectively:

  • lead, manage and motivate discrete DevOps team members
  • Lead and manage resources including developers, testers and consultants to coordinate development, release and delivery activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product and infrastructure issues.
  • Enforce sound and secure software engineering practices/processes

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong hands-on coding and debugging skills (preferably in Azure, .NET, and Kubernetes containers, Azure SQL and Mongo DBs).
  • Solid understanding of software development practices, including CI/CD and Agile methodologies.
  • Effective people leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for team deliverables.
  • Customer-focused mindset and attention to quality.
Authority, Scope (P&L, Staff, Decision Making)
  • Manages a small to medium-sized development team (local and remote).
  • Responsible for sprint planning, task assignments, and performance feedback.
  • Makes day-to-day technical and project-level decisions with limited oversight.
  • Works under the guidance of the Chief Operating Officer and as a colleague to the CTO.
Travel:
  • Occasional travel (up to 10%) for team meetings, planning sessions, or customer and vendor events.

This role is part of the Development team and reports to the COO.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical contributor who enjoys mentoring developers, writing code, and improving development processes. This position will work closely with both onshore and offshore team members to ensure reliable, maintainable, and performant software delivery.
