Scope of Role

ITRS is looking for a Design Lead to set the visual standard for ITRS, and make our new brand real everywhere it shows up.

Reporting to the Head of Brand and Content, you will lead design across campaigns, web, events, sales, and product marketing. You will build the systems that let a small team produce a lot of work without it drifting.

We are partway through the biggest brand change in the company's history, working with an external agency on a new identity. You will take that identity from a set of guidelines to a living system: templates, components, motion principles, and the standards that keep it intact as it scales.

You will mentor 1 Visual Designer today, direct a growing freelance network, and shape what the team becomes next.

As an Design Lead, you will:
  • Set and hold the visual standard across every brand touchpoint: campaigns, web, social, events, sales collateral, and executive communications.
  • Take our new identity from guidelines into practice, and build the design system, templates, and components that make it repeatable.
  • Own how our brand behaves in motion. Define the motion principles, build the templates, and direct freelance motion designers against them.
  • Lead design on our highest-priority campaigns from concept to delivery, with clear reasoning behind every decision
  • Line manage and develop our Visual Designer through feedback, critique, and craft coaching.
  • Brief, direct, and quality-check our freelance creative network
  • Present work to senior stakeholders with the rationale that gets it approved
  • Work with the Content Lead so words and visuals get made together, not bolted together afterward.
  • Partner with Platform Marketing, Web, and Demand Generation to keep the digital brand experience consistent across marketing priorities.
  • Intake, prioritize, review, and deliver projects and tasks in Asana, so we ship on time without cutting quality.

Requirements
  • 8+ years in design, including 2+ years leading a team or a function, in-house or in an agency.
  • A portfolio that shows brand systems, not just artifacts. We want to see how you think, not only what you shipped.
  • Experience taking a new identity from guidelines into live execution at scale.
  • Expert in Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Real motion fluency. You do not have to animate everything yourself, but you need to art-direct motion and judge it properly; familiarity with Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro is expected.
  • Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and executives, and the ability to hold a position under pressure.
  • Experience mentoring designers and raising the standard around you.
  • Comfort in B2B. You can make complex, unglamorous technology look considered.
  • Web design, and working directly with web teams. (desirable)
  • Experience designing for events and physical spaces. (desirable)
  • Storyboarding motion graphics and brand videos. (desirable)

Key competencies

  • Design judgment and the ability to explain it in commercial terms.
  • Systems thinking: builds for repeatability rather than one-off craft.
  • Stakeholder management and the confidence to defend a creative position.
  • Coaching and development of designers.
  • Art direction of specialists, including motion, illustration, and photography.
  • Operational discipline: prioritizes, sequences, and ships.

Benefits
  • Health Insurance and Dental Health Cover for you and your dependants
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Pension
  • Flexible Hybrid Working
  • Enhanced Parental Leave
  • Travel Insurance
  • Life Assurance
  • Income Protection
  • Referral Bonus
  • Buy and Sell Holiday
  • Training Reimbursement
