Design Assistant

Universal Design Studio is an architecture and interiors practice based in London and New York, dedicated to creating spaces that inspire and endure. We are looking for a talented Design Assistant to join Universal Design Studio in London. Reporting to the Senior Creative Team, you are proactive, thoughtful and inquisitive.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to projects from concept through to completion
• Support design development, including spatial planning and furniture layouts
• Assist with schedules, specifications, and technical drawing packages
• Research and source furniture, lighting, materials, and equipment
• Produce 3D models, visuals, and presentation materials
• Develop material and colour palettes
• Liaise with suppliers, order materials, and coordinate samples
• Provide creative problem solving and general project support
• Assist with administrative tasks as required

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Degree (or equivalent) in Interior Design or Architecture
• 1–2 years’ post-graduate experience in workplace, hospitality, cultural, or retail sectors
• Proficiency in CAD and Adobe Creative Suite
• Knowledge of Vectorworks, SketchUp, Rhino, AutoCAD, or BIM is advantageous
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented approach
• Good organisational and time management abilities
• Awareness of industry standards and current design trends
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing client requirements
