At Flexera, we are revolutionizing the way enterprises manage IT, and we’re looking for an expert in database performance engineering and architecture to join our dynamic team. In this hybrid role, you will lead efforts to optimize database performance, design scalable architectures, and drive innovation across our data platforms to meet the demands of our customers and applications.

What You'll Do:

  • Performance Optimization:
    • Analyze and resolve database performance bottlenecks, including slow queries, inefficient indexing, and suboptimal schema designs.
    • Design and implement performance tuning strategies for high-throughput, low-latency applications.
    • Diagnose and improve database performance.
  • Architecture & Design:
    • Architect scalable and efficient database solutions tailored to business needs.
    • Design normalized and denormalized schemas, indexing strategies, and partitioning approaches.
    • Collaborate with development teams to ensure best practices in database integration.
  • Data Solutions Leadership:
    • Lead database migration and modernization efforts, including cloud migrations.
    • Evaluate and implement emerging database technologies and tools to enhance system performance and reliability.
    • Provide technical mentorship to developers and ensure adherence to database development standards.
  • Collaboration & Strategy:
    • Partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical database solutions.
    • Actively contribute to team discussions on improving system quality, scalability, and maintainability.

What You'll Bring:

  • Expertise in Database Performance Optimization:
    • Proven experience with advanced T-SQL and SQL Server performance tuning.
    • Deep understanding of query execution plans, indexing, partitioning, and caching strategies.
  • Architectural Experience:
    • Extensive experience in designing database schemas and scalable architectures for complex systems.
    • Strong knowledge of database modeling and optimization techniques for OLTP and OLAP workloads.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
    • Knowledge of database monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds DPA, New Relic, or SQL Diagnostic Manager).
    • Understanding of database security best practices and disaster recovery planning.
  • Additional Skills (Preferred):
    • Experience with NoSQL solutions like MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
    • Familiarity with programming languages such as C#.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in database development, performance tuning, and architecture.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to stakeholders and mentor team members.
