Job Description:

PM Growth Analytics – Data Scientist, Marketing Measurement & Insights

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join Growth Analytics in a hands-on role focused on understanding the true value of Performance Marketing. You will combine experimentation, modelling, and business analysis to evaluate marketing effectiveness, explain performance, and translate findings into clear recommendations that guide investment decisions.

This role sits at the intersection of measurement, analytics, and business decision-making. It is suited to someone with solid analytical foundations, strong commercial curiosity, and the ambition to grow into a Senior Data Scientist. You will take ownership of defined analytical projects, with support from experienced colleagues on more complex methodological and strategic questions, and build increasing independence and influence.

Your work will span incrementality testing, marketing mix modelling (MMM), and understanding why realised returns differ from predictions. You will work closely with buying teams, analysts, and technical partners to connect evidence across measurement approaches and help assess Performance Marketing alongside the wider marketing mix. A sister team focuses on model training infrastructure and production pipelines; your focus will be on analytical rigour, interpretation, and applying findings to business decisions.

Your Role Within Our Kingdom

  • Connect Measurement to Business Value: You will translate analytical findings into practical recommendations on marketing investment, campaign optimisation, and performance expectations. You will work with stakeholders to connect marketing outcomes to player behaviour and revenue, and follow through to understand whether recommendations improve decisions.
  • Deliver Marketing Measurement: You will design and analyse incrementality tests and contribute to MMM and other causal analyses, selecting appropriate approaches with guidance where needed. You will own defined projects from the initial business question through analysis, interpretation, and stakeholder readout.
  • Explain Business Performance: You will investigate where and why ROI is over- or under-predicted, distinguishing changes in player value, campaign mix, measurement assumptions, and underlying business performance. You will help stakeholders understand whether a gap calls for action, further investigation, or more time to gather evidence.
  • Turn Evidence into Decision Frameworks: You will help translate experiment and model outputs into calibration inputs, performance benchmarks, and repeatable analytical tools. You will bring together evidence from incrementality, attribution, and MMM to support planning and evaluate Performance Marketing within the wider marketing mix.
  • Bridge Business and Technical Questions: You will work with marketing stakeholders to frame actionable questions and with technical partners to define data and analytical requirements. You will help ensure measurement outputs are interpreted correctly and used effectively in day-to-day decisions.
  • Communicate Clearly and Improve Our Approach: You will explain findings, assumptions, and uncertainty to technical and non-technical audiences. You will challenge inconsistencies, identify opportunities to improve existing approaches, and take on broader ownership as your expertise develops.

Skills to Create Thrills

  • Education: Degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: Hands-on experience in data science, analytics, experimentation, or marketing measurement, with examples of taking an analytical question through to a useful business recommendation.
  • Statistical Foundations: A solid understanding of statistical modelling, hypothesis testing, experimentation, and the distinction between correlation and causation. Practical experience with at least one relevant measurement approach and an interest in developing broader expertise.
  • Execution: Able to independently deliver well-scoped analytical work, validate results, and manage priorities. Comfortable working through ambiguity while recognising when to seek input or challenge the original question.
  • Commercial Mindset: Curious about what drives business performance and able to connect analytical results to investment choices, expected returns, and practical actions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python or R and SQL, with experience working with complex datasets and producing clear, reproducible analyses.
  • Communication: Able to explain complex findings in accessible language, make recommendations supported by evidence, and communicate uncertainty without losing the practical message.
  • Judgement and Growth: Thoughtful about assumptions, data quality, and methodological limitations. Receptive to feedback, quick to learn, and ready to develop towards broader project ownership and greater influence over business decisions.

Tasty Bonus Points

  • Experience working with media buying teams, growth marketing, or other commercial stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with MMM, GeoLift, holdout testing, synthetic controls, or other causal inference methods.
  • Experience analysing ROI, lifetime value, forecast accuracy, or the drivers of changes in commercial performance.
  • Understanding of advertising measurement challenges, including attribution bias, selection effects, organic cannibalisation, and platform limitations.
  • Exposure to measuring brand or traditional marketing alongside digital Performance Marketing.
  • Experience turning analysis into repeatable tools or processes used in planning, forecasting, or optimisation.
  • Familiarity with BigQuery, Looker, or similar data and analytics platforms.
  • Passion for gaming and curiosity about how player behaviour translates into long-term business value.
