We Are Sparta
Sparta is the next-generation commodity trading platform.
We give trading desks the clarity, control, and collaboration they need to move faster and trade smarter.
In February 2025, we secured $42 million in Series B funding. Now we’re scaling up across the business, and it’s an exciting time to join.

Our people are the driving force behind everything we do. At Sparta, you’ll be trusted to take ownership, backed by a team who wants you to succeed. You’ll be challenged, supported, and given room to grow. Because building something this ambitious takes everyone at their best.

At Sparta, your work has reach. From improving our platform, to powering smarter decisions for our customers, to changing how commodity trading is done around the world.

And because we’re growing fast, you won’t just build your career. You’ll accelerate it, with a level of ownership and impact you simply don’t get at bigger, more bureaucratic companies.

The role

Sparta’s Data Marketplace (DMP) is our rapidly growing data business, distinct from the core SaaS platform. It delivers Sparta’s proprietary pricing and curve data as well as third-party data via API, and partners like Snowflake, Databricks and others.

You'll be the dedicated sales lead for DMP, carrying your own sales target and accountable for growing Data Marketplace revenue. This is a global role: you’ll work alongside the sales teams in Europe, the US, Middle East and Asia: with the Account Directors who own existing customers, to find data upsell within their book, and with Account Executives, to put DMP in front of new logos.

What You’ll Do

• Build and manage a pipeline of prospects across quant and trading desks, hedge funds, and physical trading or analytics teams who need direct data feeds. You own the Data Marketplace sales number.

• Work with regional Account Directors to identify data upsell opportunities within existing Sparta accounts.

• Work with regional Account Executives to pitch and sell the DMP product to new logos.

• Articulate the commercial case for Sparta’s proprietary and third-party redistributed data (physical and financial curves, broker data, PRA and exchange data) across crude, refined products, freight, LPG and bunker fuel.

• Structure and price data packages and subscriptions tailored to each customer’s use case, from historical data for market analytics through to live feeds for automated trading models.

• Partner with the Data Marketplace product team to stay current on the data catalogue, roadmap and new distribution channels (API, Snowflake, Databricks and others as they launch).

• Represent Sparta at industry and data-focused events, building relationships with data buyers and data- provider partners.

• Maintain accurate pipeline and forecasting in HubSpot, applying MEDDPICC to qualify and progress opportunities.
• Feed customer and market insight back to the product team to help shape the Data Marketplace roadmap and packaging.

Who You Are

• 7+ years of B2B sales experience selling data, market data feeds, or financial/information products.

• A track record of selling directly to quant or trading desks, hedge funds, or data and analytics teams at trading houses.

• Comfortable engaging both technical buyers (data and quant teams) and commercial decision-makers.

• Working understanding of data licensing and distribution commercial models: APIs, data feeds, subscriptions.

• Strong negotiation and deal-structuring skills, with the ability to price and package data products around a customer’s use case.

• An excellent communicator, able to translate technical data capability into clear commercial value.

• Based in London or Geneva, in the office 3-4 days a week, and happy to travel internationally (across Europe, the US, Middle East and Asia) for customer meetings and industry events.

Nice to haves

• Experience selling commodities, energy or market data specifically.

• Familiarity with data distribution platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar data marketplaces.

• Familiarity with HubSpot and Claude.
