We make health happen

At Bupa, technology underpins everything we do. You’ll join a growing digital and data community working across innovative platforms that support colleagues, clinicians, patients and our insurance customers. As part of our enterprise data platform team, you’ll help build and operate the cloud infrastructure that powers analytics, reporting and data science across Bupa.

This role is ideal for an engineer with hands‑on Azure and/or Snowflake experience who is ready to deepen their cloud engineering skills, contribute to automation and platform operations, and work in a highly regulated, mission‑driven environment.

Please note: This is a platform engineering role rather than a traditional data engineering position. We welcome applicants from data engineering backgrounds with strong platform/IaC skills.

How you’ll help us make health happen:

  • Support the design, build and maintenance of core Azure and Snowflake data platform components.

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform, enabling repeatable and automated deployments.

  • Build and run CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.

  • Contribute to platform monitoring, including logging, metrics and alerting through observability tooling.

  • Troubleshoot platform issues and escalate where appropriate.

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects and data teams to provision secure and performant environments.

  • Contribute to documentation, runbooks and operational procedures.

  • Support continuous improvement by identifying enhancements to automation, performance and reliability.

Key Skills & Experience

  • ~3+ years’ experience in platform, cloud, or data platform engineering.

  • Hands‑on experience with key Azure data services (e.g., Data Factory, Data Lake, Power BI/Fabric).

  • Experience working with Snowflake or other relational cloud data platforms.

  • Foundational to intermediate skills in Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform.

  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

  • Working knowledge of monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Application Insights.

  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation tasks.

Benefits

Our benefits are designed to make health happen for our people. Viva is our global wellbeing programme and includes all aspects of our health – from mental and physical, to financial, social and environmental wellbeing. We support flexible working and have a range of family friendly benefits.

Joining Bupa in this role you will receive the following benefits and more:

• 25 days holiday, increasing through length of service, with option to buy or sell

• Bupa health insurance as a benefit in kind

• An enhanced pension plan and life insurance

• Annual performance-based bonus

• Onsite gyms or local discounts where no onsite gym available

• Various other benefits and online discounts
