Who we are:

Billigence is a boutique data consultancy with global reach, helping organisations transform the way they work with data. We specialise in delivering high-impact solutions across Data Management, Data Governance, Cloud Data Platforms, AI Enablement, and Advanced Analytics.

Headquartered in Sydney with offices across the UK, Europe, and APAC, Billigence partners with some of the world's leading organisations to design and implement modern data capabilities that drive better decision-making and business outcomes.

About the role:

Billigence is looking for an experienced Data Management Lead to support one of the UK's largest retail transformation programmes.

Working alongside senior business and technology stakeholders, you will lead the Data Management workstream across a complex SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA transformation while supporting the migration of legacy enterprise data into a modern cloud data platform.

This is a highly visible leadership role where you will act as the bridge between business, technology, governance, and delivery teams, ensuring data is trusted, governed, and ready to support the future operating model.

The successful candidate will combine strong Data Management expertise with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and experience delivering enterprise-scale transformation programmes.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the Data Management workstream across a large-scale SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA transformation programme.
  • Define and embed Data Management best practices across multiple business domains.
  • Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Programme Managers, Architects, and business leaders to improve data quality, governance, and accountability.
  • Ensure programme deliverables align with enterprise Data Management standards, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Act as the strategic link between the Master Data Management (MDM) programme and wider transformation initiatives.
  • Support the migration of legacy Enterprise Data Warehouse assets into a modern cloud data platform.
  • Drive improvements in data quality, metadata, lineage, stewardship, and business ownership.
  • Provide hands-on guidance to business stakeholders in implementing effective Data Management processes.
  • Identify data risks, remediation opportunities, and governance improvements across critical business domains.
  • Develop KPIs and reporting to measure Data Management maturity, adoption, and business outcomes.
  • Represent the Data Management function across programme governance forums and executive stakeholder meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Architecture, Governance, Security, Risk, and Product teams to deliver trusted enterprise data capabilities.

What you'll need:

  • Extensive experience leading Data Management or Data Governance initiatives within large enterprise organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise Data Management frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, or similar.
  • Experience delivering Data Management across large transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Lineage, and Data Stewardship.
  • Experience working with SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA migrations, or large ERP transformation programmes is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting cloud data platform or Enterprise Data Warehouse migrations is advantageous.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders.
  • Strong consulting mindset with the ability to translate business challenges into practical Data Management solutions.
  • Experience working within retail or other large complex organisations is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
