Our purpose is to give everyone real confidence to put their money to work. With a heritage dating back more than 175 years, we have a long history of innovation in savings and investments, combining asset management and insurance expertise to offer a wide range of solutions.

Our two distinct operating segments, Asset Management and Life, work together to provide access to balanced, long-term investment and savings solutions.

Through telling it like it is, owning it now, and moving it forward together with care and integrity; we are creating an exceptional place to work for exceptional talent.

We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer work place accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role.

The Role:

The Client Distribution Data Platform delivery team is building data‑driven products that enable colleagues across the business to work smarter and faster. A key focus is the development of an internal AI Copilot agent that allows users to query trusted product and distribution data, driving significant improvements in business efficiency.

This role is for an experienced engineer who enjoys turning complex business problems into robust, production‑ready solutions. The role focuses on delivery, ownership, and thoughtful engineering, working in a cross‑functional environment with business, governance, and technology partners.

The team values collaboration in the morning and protects focus time for delivery for the rest of the day.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate production‑grade features for an AI‑enabled data product, including an internal Copilot agent
  • Own specific services, pipelines, or AI capabilities end‑to‑end, following established engineering and DevOps ways of working
  • Translate business questions and requirements into clear technical problem statements and solution options
  • Contribute to the extension, hardening, and operationalisation of AI solutions, with a strong focus on reliability and observability
  • Build and work with operational and product‑focused data pipelines, rather than purely analytical datasets
  • Collaborate directly with business users, and technical teams to deliver tangible outcomes
  • Contribute to team design discussions, proposing ideas and improvements across architecture, quality, and delivery practices
  • Maintain clear documentation to support maintainability and knowledge sharing
  • Apply AI tools thoughtfully and pragmatically, challenging use cases that do not add real value
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Strong engineering background with experience delivering cloud‑based data or software solutions
  • Solid proficiency in SQL and experience with a general‑purpose programming language (C# preferred; Python considered)
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (Azure preferred, other technology considered, e.g. data orchestration and application hosting services such as Data Factory and App Services)
  • Hands‑on experience contributing to AI‑enabled solutions, including prompt engineering and working with AI‑assisted development tools
  • Understanding of data engineering concepts, including data structures, pipelines, and operational data flows
  • Experience contributing within established CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code practices (DevOps)
  • Ability to balance delivery speed with robustness, reliability, and long‑term maintainability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas simply
Suggested Essential Skills
  • Cloud computing
  • Data engineering and operational data platforms
  • AI‑enabled development and prompt engineering
  • Problem solving and solution design
  • Collaboration across business and technical teams
  • Agility, adaptability, and continuous improvement

Nice to have

  • Awareness of security best practices
  • Exposure to asset management or financial services domains
