The Opportunity
As a Customer Success Engineer (CSE) at MariaDB, you will provide technology expertise and leadership to key enterprise customers while working closely with MariaDB Customer Success Managers. Day to day you will be collaborating with CTO’s, DBA’s, Product Owners and other technical teams from the world’s largest and most well-known organizations, particularly focused on ensuring successful deployment, adoption, and optimization of MariaDB solutions.

The Customer Success Engineer helps current MariaDB EU based enterprise customers be even more successful with their use of our database platform and solutions. The role will include technical leadership for discovery sessions, technical workshops, and participation in customer strategy meetings.
Please note, this is a hybrid role which requires you onsite 2 x days per week at our London office.
Your Impact
- Product Expertise
- Provide advanced product-level expertise, advising best practices and resolving intricate technical challenges
- Serve as the go-to expert for MariaDB products –assisting the internal MariaDB Customer Success team during customer meetings before the renewal cycle
- Proactively communicate new features and best practices, ensuring customers are leveraging the full capabilities of MariaDB
- Product Adoption
- Lead efforts to drive product adoption, conducting in-depth training sessions, and workshops tailored to customer needs
- Assess and address gaps in deployment and best practices, translating them into strategic action plans for improvement
- Ensure customers achieve operational excellence by fully adopting and optimizing new features
- Customer Impact
- Act as a strategic advisor, influencing key stakeholders at various levels, including C-suite executives
- Manage complex customer engagements, collaborating with account teams to develop and execute high-touch delivery strategies
- Lead customer escalations, coordinating with internal teams and resources to ensure timely and effective resolution
Qualifications
- 5+ years of database centric, Senior Sales Engineer experience; preferably focused on MariaDB or MySQL databases
- 4+ years of hands-on experience leading the design, deployment and management of large enterprise database projects
- Strong Database administration & architecture skills, combined with fundamental knowledge of programming languages and web stack technologies, etc.
- Proven track record in driving product adoption, leading complex feature implementations, and delivering advanced training programs
- Ability to translate technical requirements into actionable plans, guiding customers through advanced use cases
- High-level consultative skills, capable of influencing decisions and driving customer success strategies
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive-level contacts
- Very strong troubleshooting, problem solving and organisational skills.
- Experience with pre-sales in an open-source or managed services environments
- UK/EMEA based with the ability and willingness to travel as needed, along with flexibility to work off-hours when required
- B.A. / B.Sc. or equivalent work experience.
