Lloyd’s are seeking to recruit a Credit Specialist (Capital Oversight) join our Capital Oversight team, bringing deep expertise in credit risk to help oversee current and prospective syndicates with material credit exposures. This is a senior, influential role. You’ll combine technical judgement with a market‑wide perspective to strengthen resilience across Lloyd’s.
What you’ll do
You’ll independently lead reviews of syndicate‑level capital, covering:
Capital requirements across premium, reserve, market, credit and operational risks
Diversification and dependency assumptions
Key movements against benchmarks and validation evidence, including stress, scenario, back‑testing and sensitivity testing
Your work will include annual capital reviews, major model changes, deep dives, governance reviews, IMAPs and reviews of new market entrants. You’ll also contribute to thematic reviews where needed.
Credit‑focused oversight
As a Credit Specialist, you’ll focus on syndicates with material credit exposures, typically reviewing:
Premium risk for credit classes, market risk and their dependencies
Methods, assumptions and expert judgement within scenario submissions
Compliance with the Capital Principle
You’ll support COBRA reviews of systemically relevant credit syndicates, including those writing SRTs and CRTs, and work with the Internal Model team to help aggregate credit exposure across the market and assess risk to the Central Fund.
You’ll also partner with Underwriting Performance to share insights from model validation and volatility analysis.
Working with others
You’ll be a key contact for managing agents and their actuarial teams. You’ll present clear, evidence‑based conclusions to the Actuarial Oversight Review Group (AORG) and other senior stakeholders, responding confidently to challenge.
You’ll collaborate closely with teams across Lloyd’s, including Syndicate Performance, Exposure Management, Treasury & Investment Management and Outwards Reinsurance. And you’ll represent Capital Oversight on internal and external credit working groups.
Wider contribution
You’ll lead projects to successful delivery and, where required, manage work areas within the wider actuarial team, including activity linked to the Lloyd’s Internal Model.
What you’ll bring
Expertise in modelling credit risk across products such as trade credit, financial guarantee, mortgage indemnity, surety, SRTs and CRTs
Experience with ESG methodologies, assumptions and validation
Familiarity with Basel‑based approaches to credit risk modelling and validation
Strong background in non‑life insurance and capital modelling
Confidence delivering complex analysis and influencing senior stakeholders
Strong project management and communication skills
Comfort with tools such as Excel and SharePoint
Qualified actuary with capital experience (desirable, not essential)
