As a Coverage Associate at MUFG in London, you will play a pivotal role in supporting business promotion activities across the technology sector. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve preparing detailed materials such as pitch books and account plans that underpin successful client engagements. You will be instrumental in facilitating smooth communication between clients and internal teams by drafting comprehensive call reports and managing follow-ups. Working closely with the Credit Solutions team, you will help negotiate facility documentation while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Your involvement in deal teams will see you supporting both new transactions and ongoing portfolio management. You will also contribute to syndication strategies through lender presentations and active participation in meetings. Staying informed about industry trends is crucial; you'll use various resources to maintain your knowledge of relevant sub-sectors. Building strong relationships internally across MUFG's global network is key to relaying opportunities for clients. Externally, you'll foster trust with corporate clients, venture capitalists, private equity funds, and partner banks. Additionally, you'll support branding initiatives alongside Events & Marketing teams by organising thought leadership events that raise the profile of GMMT on social platforms.

  • Provide transaction and marketing support for corporate and investment banking products by identifying customer needs and supporting cross-sell initiatives.

  • Prepare high-quality pitch books, account plans, briefing notes, deal screening submissions, business rationales for credit applications, and internal reports with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Draft call reports following client meetings and diligently pursue follow-up actions to ensure seamless communication and relationship management.

  • Liaise with clients regarding facility documentation in coordination with the Credit Solutions team, ensuring clarity and accuracy throughout negotiations.

  • Work collaboratively within deal teams to support both new transactions and portfolio management in accordance with internal policies and regulatory guidance.

  • Assist in syndication strategies by preparing lender presentations, liaising with participant lenders, and participating in client and bank meetings as required.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sub-sectors represented in the portfolio by utilising internal and external sources for technical aspects and regulatory issues.

  • Actively engage with local and regional teams to relay opportunities for GMMT clients within MUFG's international network, fostering inter-departmental cooperation.

  • Build relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network that facilitates information gathering and effective collaboration across departments.

  • Independently manage external relationships where appropriate by creating trust with corporate clients, venture capital/private equity funds, and partner banks on transactions.

What you bring:

  • Experience working within a banking or advisory environment where transactional processes are central to daily operations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the technology sector coupled with an ability to build dependable relationships with stakeholders.

  • Motivation to originate new business through nurturing existing connections as well as developing new ones within the industry.

  • Numeracy skills that enable accurate analysis of financial data relevant to client transactions.

  • Fluent written and spoken English essential for clear communication across diverse teams.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for preparing reports and presentations.

  • Understanding of credit/risk assessment processes that inform sound decision-making when evaluating deals (preferred).

  • Familiarity with product areas such as loans, bonds, derivatives, working capital solutions, or cash management (preferred).

  • Some knowledge of TMTUE companies or sectors would be advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Degree level education (BSc/BA) minimum 2:1 required (or equivalent work experience); relevant professional qualifications preferred.
