Job Purpose 

MRC Global is seeking to hire a Corporate Services Manager. The position will be located at the company’s corporate headquarters in downtown Houston, Texas, or its offices at the Regional Distribution Center in La Porte, Texas, depending on the candidates’ commuting desires. Weekly (if not daily) interaction with staff at both locations will be required in person or virtually. In addition, MRC Global team members may work from home one day a week. The Corporate Services Manager will: 

Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Seek, negotiate, and obtain cost savings opportunities through the oversight of the company’s corporate purchasing programs including (among others), electricity and other utilities, waste management and recycling services, forklifts, warehouse supplies, safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE), branded materials and clothing, office supplies, travel services and packing and shipping materials.

  • Help direct the company to reduce its carbon footprint and environmental impact.

  • Review the company’s corporate purchasing programs to identify efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities.

  • Oversee the management of the company’s corporate fleet of over 900 trucks and vehicles, including interfacing with the company’s internal fleet manager and external fleet management company to lease new vehicles, sell vehicles under expiring leases, and maintain vehicles.

  • Help direct the company to reduce its carbon footprint and environmental impact.

  • Maintain stakeholder relationships to assure business needs are met.

  

Key Relationships 

The company’s Corporate Services Analyst will report to this position. In addition, the successful candidate will use his or her leadership skills to lead and support both operations and corporate functions with the implementation, administration and successful use of the company’s purchasing programs, maximizing vendor service and support as well as savingsKey relationships for this role include (among others) MRC Global’s: 

  • Executive Vice President – Corporate Affairs 

  • Executive Vice President - Sustainability 

  • Vice President – Distribution Centers & Logistics 

  • Vice Presidents of regional operations 

  • Senior Director – Risk Management 

  • Fleet Manager 

  • Facilities project manager(s) 

  • Financial Analysts and Payables  

  • Various centralized service, equipment, and supply providers 

Key Competencies 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following key competencies: 

  • Good negotiating skills are needed to obtain the best prices and terms for the company.

  • A level of business and financial acumen to evaluate transactions, costs, and efficiencies.

  • Ability to collaborate, support, and lead across organizational boundaries.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong verbal and written communication.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Analytical and problem-solving.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. 

  • Willingness to travel (typically once a month).

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as Business, Finance, Economics, or related degree) or a bachelor’s degree with prior related business experience.

  • Continuous process improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) experience a plus.

Additional Qualifications 

  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.

  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others and to understand and interpret safety instructions, and to respond to inquiries.

  • Ability to understand and comply with MRC Global guidelines & expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
