Working Hours

35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required.  We are happy to consider agile and flexible working patterns.  Our approach to hybrid working allows for up to 40% of time working from home and 60% working in the office, please contact a member of the recruitment team to discuss further.

Department Description

Corporate Insurance

We offer our clients the resources and know-how to advise on Europe-wide and country-specific issues that arise in corporate transactions.

Our corporate insurance lawyers work almost exclusively on deals in the insurance industry across Europe. We advise on transactions of all forms and sizes, including public and private M&A, Part VII transfers, cross-border deals and portfolio acquisitions as well as specialist transactions such as renewal rights and reinsurance arrangements. We also advise insurance companies and their boards on corporate governance matters, listed company issues and equity capital markets transactions.

We cover the key segments of the insurance industry, including life and general insurance, Lloyd’s of London, and run-off and consolidation businesses. Our lawyers have experience in the emerging InsurTech field and have advised on a number of collaborations in this space.

The team is supported by a range and depth of insurance industry experience that few other advisers can match, which supports clients in their due diligence and in navigating the complex regulatory processes associated with corporate insurance.

Our offering to clients is adapting as the insurance industry changes. We focus on technological developments whether they relate to distribution or new technologies like blockchain and driverless cars, cross-border regulatory issues, data protection regulation and cyber risk, changes in healthcare regulation and pensions, or sanctions.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Technical Ability

  • Understands legal principles of own practice area, along with a working knowledge of other practice areas
  • Has project management responsibility, ensuring timely delivery to high quality standards
  • Stays aware of legal developments affecting any specialist areas and regularly attends appropriate training sessions

Person Specification

The Candidate

We have an opening for a first rate Corporate Insurance lawyer.  Experience gained within a top tier firm is preferred.  It is essential that the candidate has a strong academic background (minimum 2.1 degree), with excellent written communication and drafting skills. The successful candidate will also have outstanding technical skills, together with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues and work well in a team. The ideal candidate will have between three to seven years post qualification experience (or equivalent experience).
