Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

As an Economic Crime Controls Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring Economic Crime risks are effectively managed across Nationwide's equity investment activities. You'll develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the Society's Economic Crime Minimum Control Standards and translate these requirements into practical, effective controls throughout the investment lifecycle.

Working closely with colleagues across Strategy, Financial Risk & Controls, and first- and second-line Economic Crime teams, you'll oversee the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Economic Crime processes from the assessment and onboarding of new investments through to ongoing monitoring and exit. You'll help shape and maintain a consistent control framework that supports both current and future investment activities, ensuring it remains aligned with regulatory requirements, internal standards and changing business needs.

The role will involve conducting and coordinating Economic Crime risk assessments, maintaining oversight of risks across the investment portfolio, and ensuring robust monitoring, governance and reporting arrangements are in place. You'll also be responsible for reviewing and updating framework documents, procedures and risk assessment tools to keep them relevant and effective.

As the primary point of contact for Economic Crime matters relating to equity investments, you'll build strong relationships across the business, coordinate responses to reviews and assurance activities, and represent Strategy in key forums and working groups. Through your expertise and collaborative approach, you'll help ensure the Society's investment activities operate within a robust and effective Economic Crime control environment.
