About the Role

Springer Nature is seeking a Consultant OR Senior Consultant for its fast-growing and highly-regarded Nature Research Intelligence business. Nature Research Intelligence advises academic, research funding, government and corporate research organisations on strategies to support their research direction. We aim to grow the socioeconomic impact of research via our consulting services. This is an exciting opportunity as the team is expanding from strong foundations with increasing demand, and we are looking for someone who can deliver research strategy consulting and analytics that will support our customers’ objectives and Springer Nature’s mission to advance discovery. 

As the Consultant OR Senior Consultant, you will work with leading research organisations to understand their needs and create insightful and impactful analysis to support them. You have experience in developing strategies for research organisations and be able to successfully communicate these in a variety of formats and deliverables. You will be familiar with bibliometrics, research funding and policy. You will have strong communication skills to leverage close partnerships with data analysts, data scientists, editors and other colleagues from Springer Nature. 

This is a hybrid role based in London or Berlin. These locations support effective collaboration with the team and aligns with business needs.

Role Responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales teams to understand and define needs of customers, applying strong Consulting Skills
• Develop proposals in response to customer requirements and/or sales briefs, leveraging Persuasion
• Works with data analysts and data scientists to assist in the curation of data sets required for Nature Strategy Report delivery, utilizing Research Methodologies
• Leads the writing and editing of Nature Strategy Reports, demonstrating effective Storytelling
• Work with our design team to align data visualisations and final report deliverables
• Key point of contact with clients and provides high-quality support throughout the lifecycle of projects, Communicates Effectively
• Deliver client presentations and dissemination workshops, applying strong Business Insights
• Attends industry conferences
• Maintains and actively pursues the adoption of consulting best practices in NRI, demonstrating a Strategic Mindset
• Supports customers in their journey towards more advanced and predictive analytics, helping to Drive Results
• Assist with data requests from the broader Impact Solutions team and across Springer Nature, effectively Managing Complexity
• Ideation, planning and development for new and existing products

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

• Ability to engage with stakeholders (clients and internal) to understand data needs and requirements 
• High competence levels to build and maintain client relationships 
• Can communicate data requirements effectively with team members 
• Knowledge of research analytics 
• Ability to write and describe data insights conclusively and credibly   
• Demonstrable experience in communicating and collaborating across a range of stakeholders (e.g., clients and internal) 
• Ability to present at internal and external meetings 
• Well organized and accurate with good time management 
• Excellent problem-solving skills 
• Works independently 
• University degree with a strong analytical/quantitative background or equivalent experience (e.g. Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Physics, Computer Science etc.)
• PhD is desirable but not essential
