We're seeking someone to join us as a Conflicts Manager, Director.

The Global Conflicts Office (GCO) oversees Morgan Stanley's Firm-wide conflicts management framework and has members based in New York, London, Hong Kong and Mumbai. This role is based in London.

The GCO operates the Firm's transactional conflict clearance process and oversees conflicts management measures relating to the Firm's broader business practices. The group's role involves frequent engagement with senior members of Business Units across the Firm, Business Management, Risk, Legal, Compliance and other control functions within the Firm.

As part of the conflict clearance process, the GCO reviews proposed transactions to assess whether they could result in conflicts that risk the Firm's bottom line, its reputation, or its client relationships. The GCO crafts and directs strategies to appropriately address these risks.

Working in the GCO provides excellent exposure to a wide range of products and services at an innovative, fast paced institution. The role demands real-time risk analysis, practical problem-solving, and an ability to build relationships with senior decision makers across the Firm.

In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm’s management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk.

What you'll do in the role:
-    Review new mandates and activities proposed by teams across all Firm businesses, to identify potential conflicts / reputational risks
-    Craft and direct strategies to appropriately address actual/potential conflicts, partnering closely with Business Unit Management, Legal, and other control functions
-    Liaise with Conflicts Managers in the other regions to address matters on a global basis
-    Lead strategic projects, e.g. enhancing technology, policies or processes, integrating new businesses into the Firm's conflicts framework

Lead role in EMEA on:
-    Engaging with senior members of Business Unit Management, Legal, Compliance and other control functions on conflicts-related policies/processes, regulatory developments, and Firm or industry initiatives
-    Monitoring significant conflicts-related industry developments/trends impacting the Firm and region
-    Engaging with regulators on conflicts topics and partnering with Regulatory Relations/Compliance/Legal
-    Conflicts-related training

What we’re looking for:
-    Typically, 5+ years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role  
-    Masters Degree/Law Degree
-    M&A and/or capital markets transaction experience, as a corporate attorney (or litigator with subject matter expertise), investment banker, or investment management professional
-    Experience at a similar financial institution's conflicts management function
-    Ability to interact with senior decision makers, excellent presentation, and relationship management skills
-    Excellent written and oral communication skills
-    Adept at working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
-    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail
-    Ability to work as a team player and independently
