About the Role

As a Compliance Specialist on our Compliance Team, you will assist with the implementation and maintenance of regulatory and licensing compliance strategies for Cover Genius across the EMEA region, including the UK.
To drive success in this role, you will have an aptitude for learning and implementing compliance frameworks.  You will support the regional compliance manager in maintaining the company’s compliance programs and ensure that the insurance business has adequate controls, procedures, and processes in place to comply with all laws, regulations, and codes applicable to the sale of insurance, warranty, and related products. Regular cross-functional collaboration will be key in ensuring that the Company’s adherence to its risk appetite and guidelines are achieved to drive scalable processes which limit risk exposure to the Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the company’s compliance requirements, policies, and internal guidelines including the maintenance of the company’s producer and adjuster licenses, preparing underwriter audit responses, and monitoring existing programs.

  • Support the compliance team with compliance requests including due diligence questionnaires,  regulatory and license filings, Appointed Representative appointments and filings.

  • Assist with the establishment and maintenance of the Compliance processes and procedures including coordinating timely communications with regulatory authorities. 

  • Support in preparation of appropriate training materials for relevant stakeholders

  • Provide appropriate reporting to the company’s management and board, as well as external partners and regulators.

  • Understand and be aware of regulatory changes and assist in providing implementation of required changes in the region including the FCA Consumer Duty requirements.

  • Work cross-functionally with teams to facilitate responses to periodic and ad hoc regulatory requests.

  • Support periodic reviews to proactively identify compliance gaps and assist with implementation of corrective action.

  • Provide support to other members of the broader Executive and Risk Management teams, as appropriate.

What you will bring

  • 3+ years experience in a compliance role within the insurance industry, or working within an insurance related organization on compliance activities.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Authorized Representative filings and relevant compliance obligation will be highly regarded.

  • Experience with identification, assessment, and management frameworks for insurance risks.

  • Understanding of compliance analytics and qualitative and quantitative risk measures.

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to a scale-up pace environment and culture.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, a postgraduate degree and/or record of academic achievement is also desirable.
