Job Description

Are you ready to help shape a smarter, greener energy system by ensuring our renewable projects connect safely and reliably to the UK grid? At EDF Power Solutions, your expertise in grid engineering will support our growing portfolio and directly contribute to Britain’s journey to net zero.

The Opportunity

As a Grid Compliance Engineer, you will play a central role in delivering safe, reliable, and compliant grid connections across our renewable energy projects. You will help us achieve our ambition to expand our operational and development portfolio while upholding the highest standards of engineering excellence. This involves maintaining your competency and knowledge of both distribution and transmission connection requirements.
In this role, you will work across a diverse range of technologies and support compliance-related activities. You will collaborate with colleagues in development, engineering, construction, and operations, as well as engage with external partners, industry bodies, and technical organisations.

This position is based in London/Durham/Edinburgh, with flexibility to travel across the UK as needed to support projects, suppliers, and internal teams.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Grid Compliance Engineer who is proactive, solutions-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes. To be shortlisted, you need to offer:

• Experience as a grid compliance engineer.
• Experience working with transmission and distribution grid companies.
• Proven track record in successfully managing grid compliance processes.
• An engineering background in electrical or power systems.
• An understanding of risk, health, safety and environmental requirements.
• A full UK driving licence.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing compliance-related interfaces with the National Energy System Operator (NESO), Transmission Owner (TO), and Distribution Network Operator (DNO) for multiple projects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supporting grid engineers in assessing transmission and distribution connection offers to ensure conformance.
• Managing the grid code compliance process, including Balancing Mechanism Unit (BMU) and metering registration for various projects across different technologies.
• Conducting power system studies and reviews, identifying and resolving any issues to ensure programme milestones are maintained.
• Acting as the compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the project team on allocated projects to ensure queries and compliance timelines are appropriately integrated into the programme to achieve project milestones.
• Ensuring ongoing compliance for operational assets to meet code obligations.
• Providing regular reports for the allocated projects and escalating issues where required.
• Maintaining a good level of expertise in compliance requirements for both transmission and distribution connections.
• Attending industry forums, seminars, and meetings as necessary to stay updated on the grid code compliance process and current issues while building and maintaining strong relationships with key industry stakeholders.
• Embedding lessons learnt, engineering excellence and operational experience into engineering activities.
