Lead end-to-end sales target setting and commissions management: design and maintain commission schemes, ensure accurate calculations and payments, manage systems and controls, produce insight from commission data, drive automation and process improvement, support budgeting/forecasting and governance, and line-manage one direct report while partnering closely with Sales and Commercial Finance stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Commissions and Targets Manager to join our Commercial Finance team. You will build your business knowledge and create strong relationships across divisions; you will have responsibility for managing and continuously improving the Sales target setting process and commissions schemes across the group.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end Sales target setting process, partnering with Commercial Finance, Sales leadership and senior stakeholders to set ambitious, fair and commercially robust targets.
Own the Sales commission cycle, ensuring schemes, calculations, approvals and payments are accurate, timely, well-controlled and clearly communicated.
Ensure the Commissions system is kept up to date and approvals are correctly managed each month.
Own and develop the process and policy documentation for target setting and commissions and perform regular reviews to ensure appropriate controls remain in place as business needs evolve.
Act as a trusted business partner to Sales, using data, insight and challenge to support growth, accountability and the right sales behaviours.
Turn commission and performance data into actionable insight, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities for better commercial decision-making.
Drive process improvement and automation across targets, commissions and reporting, helping build scalable, tech-enabled solutions as the business grows.
Support budgeting, forecasting, cost recognition, governance and documentation for commissions.
Lead regular reviews of commission schemes to ensure they continue to drive desired behaviours and business outcomes and amending them as required.
Lead the development of one direct report, embedding a high-quality service mindset and continuous improvement culture.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- +5 years’ relevant experience, ideally partnering Sales teams in a fast-paced, recurring revenue or technology-enabled business.
- Strong communicator and stakeholder manager, able to build trusted relationships while constructively challenging assumptions and driving accountability.
- Highly numerate and analytical, with strong Excel modelling skills and the ability to turn complex data into clear insight and recommendations.
- Organised, accurate and proactive, able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and continuously improve ways of working.
- People management experience, or the appetite to coach and develop others.
- Experience with sales commissions, target setting, incentive schemes or related systems, including Salesforce, Spiff or Clari is a bonus.
