General Summary:

The Commercial Supply Chain, Distributor Markets, Senior Manager is responsible for planning supply chain activities with the business.  A key aspect of this role is harmonizing supply chain activities within International Supply Chain and related functions, to achieve Distributor Team business objectives.

The position is located in London, UK, and will report directly to the NEAD Regional Supply Chain Associate Director based in London, UK.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide oversight and coordination of daily supply operations to distributor markets

  • Act as the escalation point of contact for customers in the region to resolve daily supply issues
  • Support the Customer Service, Inventory Management, and Logistics teams with fulfilment of complex tender orders
  • Coordinate various aspects of launches for the region, working with the Product Launch team to ensure product readiness, as per commercial objectives

Partner & engage with distributor market teams to enable the commercial strategy

  • Partner with distributor management teams to understand the commercial strategy and work across supply chain sub-teams (launch, supply planning, logistics) to enable the strategy
  • Proactively engage with and influence stakeholders to ensure supply chain capabilities are considered in strategy development
  • Manage stakeholders to ensure alignment relating to product supply

Translate regional requirements into supply plans, considering the supply chain network capability

  • Lead supply and quotations in Tender Markets, harmonize activities across International Supply Chain teams, to ensure compliance with local Tender conditions and Regulatory requirements
  • Understand and monitor regulatory, reimbursement, and customer requirements
  • Support Regional Demand Planner with translating demand forecasts and requirements to the CMSC organization in a concise format that can drive optimal decision making and implementation
  • Support Regional Demand Planner with demand scenarios, assess impact on the supply chain, and identify related costs or risks

Support demand forecasting activities

  • Stay abreast of activity in the market and capture market intelligence
  • Collaborate with the regional teams and International Supply Chain Demand Planning team, to continuously drive forecast improvements and provide inputs on trend analyses
  • Assist in the development and validation of long-range planning and forecasting models for budget and production needs of the business

Manage the Supply Chain relationship with distributor partners in the region

  • Ensure Vertex supply chain requirements are communicated to distribution channel partners and met
  • Support distributor audits and supply chain compliance together with adjacent functions (Quality, Security, Pharmacovigilance, etc.)
  • Maintain operational oversight of distributors’ supply chain activities, including the “last mile” distribution and performance metrics reviews

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant discipline
  • Stakeholder management
  • Ability to lead without authority
  • Experience running / operating in S&OP processes
  • Experience in Tender process and Non-Registered product supply
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical/ biotech/ medical devices supply chain
  • Strong knowledge and experience employing continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. lean, six sigma)
  • Strong overall business acumen
  • Ability to lead complex projects and manage timelines
  • Experience working with third party distributors
  • Strong working knowledge of supply chain management principles
  • Strong understanding of GMP and GDP regulations/requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to bring creativity and energy to resolve technical, project or organizational challenges
  • Process thinking and operational excellence skills
  • Additional language capabilities and ability to navigate different cultures and ways of working
  • Experience working with emerging markets.

Travel:

This position will require up to 15% travel to external partners and Vertex offices internationally.

Flex Designation:

Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site Eligible

Flex Eligibility Status:

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as: 
1.    Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2.    On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
