About the role
As the Commercial Manager at Recognise Bank, you will be responsible for driving the Bank’s lending and savings portfolios from a commercial perspective. You will focus on optimising product performance, ensuring strong market fit, and delivering sustainable volume growth, while ensuring that product propositions continue to meet the needs of customers and intermediaries.
You will oversee the management and development of key intermediary panels and strategic partners that are essential to the delivery of the Bank’s lending strategy. As the business evolves, these partnerships may expand in line with commercial objectives and overall strategy. You will work cross functionally to support business growth and improvement initiatives, defining commercial requirements for new and existing products. You will collaborate closely with the Product team to ensure these requirements are accurately translated into functional and non-functional specifications. In addition, you will lead the development and implementation of management information (MI), working with the data team to ensure the Bank has the insight needed for effective management of the lending function.
You will also be responsible for the ongoing oversight, performance, and development of third-party introducer panels. This includes ensuring adherence to policies, monitoring performance against expectations, and working with the lending and marketing teams to maximise engagement and commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Product Ownership
- Drive commercial strategy for lending and savings products, including pricing, positioning, and target market definition.
- Draft, review, and refine product papers for new and existing products in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Define commercial requirements (features, channels, etc.) and work with the Product team to deliver them.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure propositions meet commercial goals and target market needs.
- Work with Marketing and brokers/customers to ensure product design and collateral meet market requirements.
- Commercial Analysis & MI
- Develop an MI suite to monitor product performance across market alignment, Consumer Duty, and commercial metrics.
- Oversee performance management and make data-driven improvement recommendations.
- Build and maintain financial and performance models to support decisions.
- Produce, interpret, and present MI to inform strategy and operations.
- Develop MI outputs for lending, including scorecards, performance reporting, and broker panel insights.
- Manage ongoing product performance: pricing, horizon scanning, and benchmarking.
- Stakeholder Management
- Manage broker panels and other third-party relationships.
- Lead onboarding and ongoing oversight of panels and external partners.
- Produce MI to ensure appropriate oversight and governance.
- Work closely with finance, risk, operations, and other teams to align on commercial objectives.
- Lending Expertise
- Bring strong understanding of the specialist lending market and competitor landscape.
- Advise on lending propositions, pricing, and structures to ensure competitiveness through benchmarking and insight.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance product performance and profitability.
- Contribute to strategic planning and commercial initiatives.
- Corporate Responsibilities
- Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to risk responsibilities outlined in the Risk Management Policy.
- Abide by compliance and financial crime policies, procedures, and reporting obligations.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years’ experience in commercial management or a related role within specialist lending.
- Strong understanding of lending products, performance metrics, and market dynamics.
- Proven ability to write and review product papers, define scopes/specifications, and develop financial or performance models.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to convert data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external relationships effectively.
- Comfortable working independently within a flexible and autonomous environment.
