Job Description

Make a real impact on the UK's energy transition by leading the commercial strategy for a large-scale solar and battery storage project.

At EDF power solutions, we’re shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Your work will help us turn that ambition into action – delivering renewable energy solutions that will power homes, businesses and communities for generations to come.

As Commercial Lead, you'll play a central role within the project leadership team, providing commercial direction, strengthening governance, and helping to guide critical project decisions that support our net zero ambitions.

The Opportunity

As Commercial Lead, you'll work alongside the Project Director and Technical Lead to drive commercial performance across a large-scale solar and storage project. You'll help shape project strategy, oversee commercial activities, and make sure strong project controls support successful delivery.

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, this hybrid role offers a blend of time at our #London office, working from home, and occasional site visits. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, investors and governance boards while supporting one of the UK's most significant renewable energy developments.

This is an exciting opportunity tobe part of the leadership delivering a large scale project, lead commercial and contract management activities, and shape the high-quality reporting, governance and project controls needed to support successful project outcomes.

Why EDF power solutions?

We’re united by a shared ambition: to tackle climate change, shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Our diverse team is growing fast, driven by innovation and a commitment to clean, green energy for all.

With technologies spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and green hydrogen, we’re the UK and Ireland’s most diverse renewable generator. By 2035, we aim to deliver 10GW of low-carbon energy – and we’d love you to help us get there.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Commercial Lead who can bring strong commercial judgement, governance expertise and experience of delivering complex infrastructure or capital projects. You'll be comfortable working with senior stakeholders and navigating commercial challenges. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…

  • Extensive experience in a senior commercial role within the infrastructure or capital projects sector
  • Strong knowledge of cost, schedule, risk and governance frameworks within large-scale project environments
  • Proven experience preparing reports, presentations and governance materials for senior stakeholders, boards or investors
  • Extensive contract management experience with a demonstrable track record of successful delivery
  • Experience managing and resolving commercial claims and variations
  • Knowledge of project insurance and financial model

What You’ll Be Doing

Commercial Leadership

  • Lead all commercial and contract management activities, ensuring robust governance, effective management of claims and variations, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Drive strong financial performance through a clear understanding of the investment case and proactive management of risk and opportunity.

Project Controls Leadership

  • Oversee the full project controls function, including planning, scheduling, cost control, commercial management, and document control.
  • Coordinate project controls resources, maintain the integrated baseline, and ensure accurate reporting, high-quality documentation, and effective management of risk, change, decisions, and lessons learned.

Governance and Reporting

  • Prepare clear, high-quality materials for Board and governance forums, supporting informed decision-making and compliance with internal processes.
  • Act as a key interface between the project team and central functions including PMO, Procurement, and Finance, ensuring alignment of standards, reporting, and controls.

Strategic Guidance

  • Partner with senior project leaders to navigate complexity, align technical and commercial priorities, and support effective delivery.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration, provide leadership during challenging situations, and help maintain focus on successful project outcomes.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

If you’re looking to join a company where you can work hard, have fun, and help to create a net zero future – then you’re in the right place! If you’re passionate about tackling climate change to support a cleaner, greener future, we’d love you to come and join us.

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, our employee benefits include flexible benefits tailored to your lifestyle – from electric vehicle leasing and private healthcare to extra holiday and more.

Everyone is welcome at EDF power solutions; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities.
