Commercial Director, The Insurer from Reuters

This hybrid position will be based in London.

The Commercial Director is accountable for the overall commercial performance of The Insurer, with responsibility for setting and delivering the growth strategy across subscriptions, advertising, partnerships and related revenue streams.

Reporting into the Reuters Professional leadership team, you'll lead The Insurer's commercial organisation, including Senior Sales Managers, and own revenue generation across new sales, renewals and expansion of existing client accounts. As Commercial Director, you will set the commercial direction, ensures robust forecasting and performance management, and creates the conditions for consultative, solution‑based selling at scale.

This role requires a high level of commercial credibility, strategic judgement and leadership capability to operate in a trust‑led industry and to manage complex, senior‑level client and internal relationships.

About the Role

As Commercial Director at The Insurer, you will:

  • Own and deliver The Insurer’s short‑, medium‑ and long‑term commercial strategy, aligned with Reuters Professional objectives

  • Be accountable for overall revenue performance across new business, renewals, upselling and cross‑selling

  • Lead, develop and coach the commercial team, including Senior Sales Managers, ensuring a consistent consultative, solution‑based sales approach

  • Set revenue targets, budgets and forecasts, ensuring strong pipeline management and CRM discipline across the team

  • Act as the senior commercial point of escalation for key accounts and strategic client relationships

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the global insurance value chain

  • Work closely with editorial, product, marketing and technology teams to shape compelling commercial propositions and pricing strategies

  • Identify and develop new revenue opportunities informed by customer insight, industry trends and competitive dynamics

  • Represent The Insurer commercially at senior client meetings, industry events and partner engagements

  • Ensure the commercial organisation effectively manages both short‑cycle and longer strategic sales motions depending on product and customer need

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Commercial Director at The Insurer if you have:

  • Senior commercial leadership experience within B2B media, information services, data, events or professional services

  • A proven track record of driving revenue growth through consultative, solution‑led selling

  • Experience leading teams responsible for new sales, renewals and expansion of existing accounts

  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to operate credibly with senior internal and external stakeholders

  • A deep understanding of managing complex client relationships in trust‑based industries

  • Demonstrated ability to set strategy while remaining close to execution and deal delivery

  • Strong forecasting, pipeline management and performance reporting capability

  • The adaptability, resilience and credibility to lead a fast‑growing, evolving business
