Job Description:

dentsu is a network designed for what’s next, helping clients predict and plan for disruptive future opportunities and create new paths to growth in a sustainable economy. As a unified organisation, dentsu brings together deep expertise across media, creative and customer experience to deliver integrated solutions that drive meaningful progress for clients and society.

We are now excited to invite applications for the role of Client Director with our awesome team in Melbourne.

The role:

A Client Director is the driving force behind a major client partnership - owning the day-to-day, leading senior relationships, and keeping the energy high across both team and client.

This is where strategy meets action. You’ll shape campaigns, steer always-on activity, and turn great thinking into work that lands.

We’re looking for someone who brings spark and authority - someone who can rally a team, challenge a client, and keep everything moving forward with confidence and momentum.

This role wears two hats, with a smaller portion allocated to investment. In this aspect of the role an opportunity to work closely with the Chief Investment Officer, overseeing the performance of media investments across a key client portfolio. Acting as the link between media partners, agency team, and investment leads, the role ensures media budgets are deployed effectively to deliver strong business outcomes, commercial value, and competitive advantage.

Core responsibilities:

  • Set the tone for the team, leading with intent, clarity, and a strong sense of ownership.

  • Build influential senior relationships, earning trust through perspective, not just delivery.

  • Shape end-to-end media thinking, bringing together ways of working, planning, and ideas that move the needle.

  • Translate complexity into clear, compelling channel approaches grounded in insight.

  • Champion work that is both effective and distinctive, with a focus on quality over volume.

  • Orchestrate collaboration across teams to ensure every piece of output feels connected and considered.

  • Maintain rigour in how work gets done, with a disciplined approach to workflow, timing, and detail.

  • Identify where value can be created and act on it, expanding the impact of the partnership.

  • Build and maintain senior relationships with key media owners, vendors, and industry partners.

  • Lead client retail portfolio investment governance, ensuring compliance with commercial and contractual requirements. Championing investment best practice, operational excellence, and quality assurance across the team.

A bit about you:

  • A deep grasp of the Australian media landscape and how to make it work harder.

  • Strong background in agency landscape, with strong instincts across planning, client leadership, and delivery.

  • The ability to lead from the front - guiding teams, influencing stakeholders, and owning outcomes.

  • Confidence to build real client trust, becoming a go-to voice, not just a point of contact.

  • Comfort in fast-moving environments where priorities shift and the stakes stay high.

  • A sharp eye for detail, with the discipline needed to navigate complex or regulated categories.

  • A collaborative mindset, bringing together agency teams into one seamless approach.

  • Curiosity and ambition to push the work, elevate thinking, and make a real mark on a new piece of business.

What’s in it for you:

  • Real flexibility to work when and where you feel most productive with our ‘Be the Best You’ policy which includes a $250 contribution to your home office set up.

  • The opportunity to give back with dedicated volunteer leave and our whole-company event, One Day for Change.

  • 5 weeks annual leave after 2 years of service and 3 whole company Wellness days off per year for you to switch off and take your day, your way.

  • Opportunity to join National dentsu DEI Councils to contribute to driving diversity of thought through our network.

  • Career Development and Learning & Development opportunities, including access to our global online dentsu University.

Become a champion for meaningful progress:

Our diverse and inclusive culture enables our employees to bring their whole selves to work and be proud of doing so. For us, this is the foundation for great innovation which, in turn, generates better outcomes for our people, partners and communities. This is why we encourage applications from people with disabilities, and of all ages, nationalities, backgrounds and cultures.

If you want to belong to a one global network where opportunities are limitless – we look forward to welcoming you.
