Cromwell Hospital is one of the UK’s most advanced independent acute hospitals, recognised globally for delivering complex, high-acuity care across a range of specialties. You will lead an organisation that sets the benchmark for quality, innovation and patient experience, both in the UK and internationally.

This is a highly influential leadership role where you’ll shape the future of private healthcare delivery, driving strategic growth, strengthening our position in the London healthcare market, and ensuring we continue to provide outstanding care to both domestic and international patients.

How you’ll help us make health happen

  • Provide inspirational executive leadership, building a high-performing, values-driven culture across the hospital.
  • Take full accountability for P&L performance, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and reinvestment into patient care.
  • Drive market leadership in London’s private healthcare sector through innovation, service-line growth and strategic positioning.
  • Strengthen consultant engagement, ensuring Cromwell remains the hospital of choice for leading specialists.
  • Lead clinical governance, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on CQC excellence.
  • Deliver transformation programmes to improve operational efficiency, productivity and patient experience.
  • Collaborate across the wider Bupa ecosystem, including health insurance, clinics and dental, to design and deliver seamless, end-to-end patient journeys that improve outcomes and experience.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow insured, self-pay and international patient markets.
  • Act as a key member of the broader Bupa executive network, contributing to enterprise-wide strategy and ensuring Cromwell is fully aligned with and benefiting from group capabilities and partnerships.
  • Oversee capital investment and major projects to enhance clinical capabilities and infrastructure.
  • Act as a senior external ambassador, strengthening relationships with consultants, partners, regulators and global stakeholders.

Key Skills / Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CEO or Executive Director within a large, complex acute hospital environment.
  • Demonstrable experience with full P&L ownership and delivery of sustainable financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of the London private healthcare market with an established professional network.
  • Extensive experience in clinical governance, quality assurance and regulatory frameworks (e.g. CQC).
  • Proven track record of leading transformation, improving performance and driving growth.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in strategic decision-making and investment planning.
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong consultant relationships and developing clinical services.
  • Inspirational leadership style with the ability to engage and motivate executive and clinical teams.
  • Experience working with international patient pathways, global insurers, or overseas healthcare networks.
