Role Overview

 

The Chubb European Group Catastrophe Management Team’s main function is ensuring that Chubb European Group’s Catastrophe Management practices and procedures are best in class and compliant with all regulatory expectations, including those of Solvency II and Lloyd’s.

Reporting directly into the Catastrophe Portfolio Analytics Manager, the Catastrophe Reporting Analyst will support the delivery of catastrophe analytics across Chubb European Group. The role supports the risk management, regulatory reporting, and business strategy functions of the Catastrophe Management team, contributing to the development and maintenance of Chubb's view of catastrophe and emerging risk.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The Catastrophe Reporting Analyst supports the development and delivery of catastrophe analytics, regulatory submissions, and portfolio reporting under the direction of the Catastrophe Portfolio Analytics Manager.

  • Support the Catastrophe Portfolio Analytics Manager in the provision of catastrophe services, ensuring all regulatory submissions and requirements are completed on time and to a high standard of accuracy.

  • Contribute to internal and external catastrophe reporting, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of outputs across Chubb European Group.

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of key external regulatory returns, including the Lloyd's RDS and LCM, terror exposure returns to Pool Re, ARPC, and GAREAT, and the London Fire Brigade return.

  • Work with catastrophe model outputs, manipulating and processing data to support a variety of reports, analyses, and downstream models.

  • Collaborate with the Catastrophe Portfolio Analytics Manager and Catastrophe Modelling teams to analyse exposure across peril-region hazards, providing supporting analytics benchmarked against internal appetites and industry standards.

  • Engage with underwriting stakeholders to develop an in-depth understanding of individual lines of business, contributing to the development of appropriate catastrophe risk scenarios.

  • Support the conception and construction of stress-test scenarios used to assess business risk positions.

  • Develop a working knowledge of the relevant peril-region data sensitivities of vendor models and contribute to the development of data quality enhancement protocols.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting processes, analytics workflows, and methodology documentation.

  • Stay current with relevant research, scientific developments, and emerging risk markets, applying new insights to the team's evolving view of catastrophe risk.

  • Contribute to a variety of team-wide projects and support the broader objectives of the Catastrophe Management function.

Qualifications

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years' catastrophe modelling experience, with a focus on portfolio analysis and model understanding.

  • Practical experience with Moody's Intelligent Risk Platform or AIR Touchstone.

  • Experience in contributing to regulatory returns is advantageous (e.g. Lloyd's, PRA, ACPR).

 

Skills & Qualifications

 

  • Degree educated, preferably in mathematics, engineering, or a science discipline.

  • Advanced Excel skills; SQL coding experience advantageous.

  • Knowledge of RMS EDM and RDM structures or AIR Touchstone database structures.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities with a desire to work extensively with complex datasets.

  • Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to present findings to a variety of stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • The ability to produce high-quality presentation material.

  • Very high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • A continuous improvement mindset — someone who questions existing processes and identifies opportunities to enhance methodologies and workflows.

  • A genuine desire to add value and increase the impact that catastrophe management has on the business.
