WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our London Office and given the nature of the role some travel alongside the Group COO is also likely

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Group COO office as a Business Support Manager! You'll play a key role, working alongside the Chief of Staff and another Business Support Managers to provide support to the Group COO across a variety of tasks.
We operate in a fast paced and complex environment, so you'll have the opportunity to balance challenging demands in a pressurised environment. You'll need a precise eye for detail, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build strong working relationships.
We enable the reliable delivery of a number of activities across a wide range of confidential topics. As such, this role may require additional vetting checks.

Here’s how you’ll make a difference…

You’ll ensure the integrity and timeliness of inputs to and actions from Board and Group-level committees through to closure. You'll also take the lead on coordinating, requesting, preparing and reviewing briefings from areas within the division for use by the Group COO in Executive level meetings and committees. Working closely with the wider leadership team, you’ll ensure timely inputs are received and then use these to set out clear analysis and recommendations.

Organisation, prioritisation and a healthy dose of influencing are core aspects of the job. As a team, we lead on the timely creation of the agenda and content for key inputs such as the Board Performance Report, Group COO Leadership meetings and key engagement activity such as All Colleague Calls and regular visits to our Platform teams and key hub sites. The role-holder will play a key part in this activity. We're looking for someone who can develop effective relationships with the support teams of other Group Executive Committee and Group COO Leadership team members, working together to identify opportunities that may improve business performance.

Role and responsibilities…

  • Secretariat to a number of regular meetings, opportunity to play a leading role in team communication events.

  • Ensuring we are working seamlessly as a COO function, fostering a culture of collaboration, openness, and innovation – spotting the gaps and calling it out, putting in place processes to improve

  • Support review and preparation of analysis and recommendations on key papers, owning follow up on areas for further development

  • Ensure integrity and quality of updates shared with Group and Board committees

  • Work with the Comms and engagement teams to implement an engaging communications plan, promoting the business with colleagues and building brand advocacy

  • Assist with preparation for engagement with key external partners including regulators, industry peers and government – bringing together relevant perspectives from across the business to ensure focused, outcome orientated, meetings.

  • Working with the relevant specialists, ensure compliance with the Group’s policies and procedures, along with relevant regulatory requirements.

What we need from you…

  • Very strong organisational skills to track timely and accurate delivery of regular reports, committee papers and other ad hoc information.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise work, resilient to a highly dynamic environment.

  • Advanced writing and presentation preparation skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to synthesise a broad range of sources of data and consolidate these into clear and concise briefing documents and recommendations.

  • Confidence in own ability and judgement.

  • Natural communicator, strong influencing skills, ensuring the team operates in a professional and efficient manner

  • Diligent delivery and execution.

Desirable…

  • Previous executive Business Support Manager (or similar support role) experience.

  • Strong awareness of Group governance structure and ability to navigate this to ensure compliance with Group policy and procedure.
