The role
The Business Operations Associate works directly with the VP of Seller Operations to identify, prioritise and deliver initiatives that improve how Motorway operates and grows.
This is a highly dynamic role focused on solving important operational and commercial problems across the seller journey. You will work on initiatives that drive conversion, improve customer experience, reduce operational cost and increase automation across the business. You will combine strong analytical thinking with practical execution. That means identifying opportunities through data and observation, developing clear hypotheses, and then driving cross-functional initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes.
The role is intentionally broad. You will work across teams including operations, product, engineering, finance and commercial teams to solve complex problems and implement scalable solutions.
Motorway moves quickly and operates in an environment that is constantly evolving. This role suits someone who thrives in ambiguity, is naturally curious, and enjoys taking ownership of messy problems and turning them into structured solutions.
We’re looking for someone who instinctively looks for smarter ways to get things done, whether that is redesigning a process, automating manual work or using AI / Tooling to solve gnarly problems. This role will be based in London, but will require travel to our Brighton office once a week.
Key responsibilities:
Identify operational and commercial improvement opportunities across the seller journey, from enquiry through to post-sale processes
Analyse operational, financial and product data to diagnose problems and uncover opportunities to improve conversion, CX and efficiency
Define and prioritise initiatives that drive measurable impact across revenue,CX and cost
Lead cross-functional projects from idea through to implementation, partnering with teams across operations, product, engineering and finance
Develop clear business cases, success metrics and tracking frameworks for initiatives
Simplify complex operational problems and translate them into clear, actionable plans for stakeholders
Drive automation and process improvements to reduce manual work and improve operational scalability
Explore and apply emerging technologies, including AI tools, to improve workflows, decision making and productivity
Operate with a high degree of ownership in a fast moving and sometimes ambiguous environment
What you’ll have:
Strong problem solving ability with the instinct to identify issues and opportunities before they are fully defined
Experience analysing data and operational metrics to inform decisions and prioritisation
A track record of driving initiatives or projects from idea through to delivery in a fast moving environment
The ability to structure ambiguous problems and communicate clear, simple solutions
Comfort working cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders
High levels of ownership, pace and adaptability
An AI-first approach to work. You actively explore and use AI tools to improve how you think, analyse problems and execute work, and you are excited about applying these tools to solve real business problems.
A mindset that thrives in fast-changing environments where priorities evolve and problems are not always clearly defined
