Business Insight Analyst – Organisational Effectiveness

Contract type: Permanent, Full time, 35 hours per week

Location: London, UK
UK hybrid working – a minimum of 40 % of working time is spent face-to-face (London office, external meetings or travel). 60/40 hybrid working at WaterAid means roughly three days wherever you work best and two days together in person.


Salary: £47,423 per annum with excellent benefits

About the team

The Data & Analytics team helps WaterAid make confident, evidence-based decisions by providing analysis, reporting and insight across the organisation, translating business needs into actionable analysis to further our mission.

As ourOrganisational Effectiveness Analyst, you will help WaterAid run effectively by turning organisational data into clear, trusted insight and work closely with the People, Finance and Strategy teams to drive sustainable change.


In this role, you will:

  • Design, build and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI, ensuring insight is clearly presented and genuinely useful for decision-making. 
  • Help to shape a clear People data strategy and approach that enables evidence-based workforce planning, strategic decision-making and improved use of People data, with support from the Head of Data & Analytics and the People Director.
  • Support Finance reporting and analysis, including working with engineering and finance-systems colleagues on changes to the data pipeline, enabling and quality-assuring self-service reporting by Finance users
  • Maintain and develop cross-organisational management information, including quarterly and live C-Suite reporting, responding to growing demand for clear reporting across domains. 
  • Champion WaterAid’s commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding.

Requirements

To be successful, you will need:

  • Practical data skills, including the ability to manipulate and investigate data using SQL and DAX.
  • Strong data visualisation and reporting skills, particularly with Power BI, able to turn complex information into clear insight and recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Good business analysis skills: able to work with stakeholders to understand their goals and translate them into clear reporting and data requirements.
  • A methodical, careful approach to data quality and documentation, comfortable monitoring data and flagging issues within a data stewardship model.

Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have:

  • Experience working with data across back-office or corporate functions such as People/HR or Finance.
  • Experience translating business requirements into data or warehouse logic alongside engineers.

As part of our annual leave policy, all employees receive three additional days of annual leave on top of their standard allocation of 25 days. These days are designated to cover the period when our UK office closes between Christmas and New Year, allowing all UK WaterAiders to take a well-deserved break. 

These days are automatically scheduled and cannot be changed or moved. Annual leave is accrued based on your start date. If sufficient leave has not been accrued by the time of the closure, the 3 days will be taken as unpaid leave or pro-rated, depending on your circumstances.
