Role Summary and Impact

As the Business Director and Team Lead of the Open UK Mobilization Team, you will own the new strategic function responsible for bridging the critical gap between the promise of WPP Open and our ability to deliver its capabilities.

You will lead a 6-person specialist team, own the £400k budget, and be ultimately accountable for the successful setup and rollout of WPP Open for our top 20 UK clients. Your mission is to delight our clients, build their confidence in our technology, and create the scalable "blueprints for excellence" and "client-specific playbooks" that will define our future onboarding process.

In this senior leadership role, you will act as the primary sponsor for this critical initiative, managing relationships with senior clients, internal ExCo members, and global product leadership. You are the leader charged with building a high-performing team from the ground up and unlocking the full potential of our platform for our most important clients, ensuring we deliver on the promise of WPP Open.

The Mobilization Process As the owner of this function, you will be responsible for overseeing the team's execution of our 5-stage mobilization process for each client, ensuring quality, consistency, and strategic alignment.

You will oversee:

  1. Understanding Current State: Ensuring the team documents and maintains a central source of truth on WPP Open's current capabilities.
  2. Project Initiation: Guiding the team in setting clear client goals, performing strategic gap analyses, and prioritizing work.
  3. Designing Success: Ensuring the "client-specific playbooks" created by the team are robust, scalable, and aligned with best practices.
  4. Delivering Change: Overseeing the successful setup of the platform and the delivery of high-quality client training by your team of SMEs.
  5. Transition to BAU: Guaranteeing a smooth and effective handover of ownership to the client and agency teams post-deployment.

Skills and Experience

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in a senior leadership role spanning client management, technology consulting, or business transformation.
  • Proven experience leading and managing specialist teams, with clear accountability for budget (£250k+), resource allocation, and performance management.
  • A track record of delivering complex technology or change management programs within a large-scale agency or enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in C-suite level stakeholder management, with the ability to navigate and influence complex internal and client relationships.

  • Strategic & Commercial Leadership: The ability to own a business plan, manage a P&L, and make strategic decisions to ensure the success and ROI of a critical business function.
  • Technology Evangelist: A deep understanding of and passion for marketing technology, with the ability to articulate its value and potential to senior, non-technical audiences.
  • Inspirational Leader: The ability to build, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team of specialists, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Master Communicator: World-class presentation and communication skills, capable of representing the programme and its progress to the most senior levels of the organization.
