Job Title: Business Development Executive / Specialist
Reports to: Vice President – Client Solutions, UK & Europe
Purpose of the Job
The Business Development Executive will be responsible for developing, solutioning, and closing new business opportunities, as well as retaining existing customer accounts, ensuring profitable growth without compromising service quality. The role requires strong relationship‑building skills, the ability to create positive impressions with prospective customers, and the capability to represent BGIS professionally within target market sectors.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Lead a variety of FM bids to meet and exceed agreed sales targets within target markets determined by the VP – Client Solutions, UK & Europe.
- Develop and build long‑term professional customer relationships with existing and prospective clients in target verticals.
- Meet and exceed defined annual UK sales targets.
- Maintain excellent relationships and after‑sales support to ensure mutual confidence and alignment with business strategy.
- Identify and develop a long‑term active pipeline by exploring existing and new market opportunities.
- Own the full sales lifecycle including SQ, RFI, RFP, and presentation stages.
- Create pitch documentation using BGIS standard Word, Excel, and PowerPoint templates.
- Work collaboratively with the Client Solutions team both in the UK and globally.
- Engage regularly with Marketing to ensure alignment and cohesive operation across teams.
- Use innovative approaches to develop new sources of profitable business.
- Raise BGIS’s profile by representing the company at industry events, through social media, and via high‑level networking, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Stay updated on industry developments, competitor activity, and market trends.
- Liaise frequently with the VP – Client Solutions, UK & Europe to provide updates on sales activities and new business opportunities.
- Ensure appropriate internal sign‑off processes are followed for all new business considerations.
- Maintain accurate records and relevant documentation to support tenders and re‑bids.
- Respond promptly and professionally to all pre‑qualifications.
- Support retention activities and continuous improvement initiatives for the existing customer base.
Person Specification
Education (Essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical working approach.
- Good general education.
- Full proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Education (Desirable)
- Higher education qualifications (HNC/D or degree level).
- Professional sales or marketing accreditation.
Experience (Essential)
- Driven by targets and comfortable working in a high‑pressure sales environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical work style.
- Minimum 5 years of professional sales experience.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
Experience (Desirable)
- 5+ years of Hard FM sales experience.
- FM‑related professional membership.
