The International Individual Investor team at Morningstar is looking for a Business Analyst to support our international website experience & platform.
Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality financial content, data and tools to investors worldwide, and we are passionate about ensuring accuracy and excellence in our offerings. This role will play a crucial role in powering our tools and features throughout the international website experience. You will own the data management process for our international platform, working with our data partners and research teams to ensure the delivery of valuable and relevant investment data on our website that is tailored to each specific target market.
You will be involved in all aspects of data management, from assessing and prioritizing localized investment data needs by country to structuring meaningful reports on usage insights and working with international stakeholders to find product improvement opportunities. Your familiarity with financial markets will be instrumental in understanding investor preferences and regulatory environments, and your organizational skills will be key in maintaining data integrity and shipping high-quality investor tools.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Owns the International Platform's end-to-end data requirements: from working with global Morningstar data and research teams to surfacing valuable information to investors on the front end.
  • Collects, evaluates, and prepares data for the international website, ensuring delivery of high-quality financial data and investor tools on the global Morningstar platform.
  • Translates data advancements and evolving methodologies into detailed written specifications and user stories.
  • Manages the data backlog, timeline, and maintains consistent communication with stakeholders as the key point of contact for internal data team members.
  • Demonstrates a high sense of ownership over data issues, assesses priority and sees through mitigation plans.
  • Manages a central data management process that organizes Morningstar data - market data, equity data, managed research data, etc. - that is used throughout the international platform experience.
  • Ensures accurate and relevant representation of financial markets and data universes for each target country on the international platform, addressing regulatory requirements related to financial data.
  • Continuously evaluates features, creates feedback reports, and seeks to implement data improvement initiatives that have a strong tie to both the end-users' benefit and business unit OKRs.
  • Collects and gathers key insights about user's preferences and displayed behaviors with detailed data analysis and reporting, using data to inform the product roadmap and fostering a culture of continuous improvement of individual investor access to Morningstar data.
  • Facilitates cross-organizational collaboration around data needs, creating a space for knowledge sharing and awareness around investor preferences.
  • Stays on track with new data sets and methodologies at Morningstar.


Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in finance or related field is required; 2-4 years' professional work experience with a background in product, analytics, or data management.
  • An in-depth understanding of European/global financial markets. Must be comfortable working with investment data points, methodologies & different fund structures.
  • Proven ability to gather, organise, synthesise and prioritise large amounts of complex information from various sources and to the appropriate level of detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in identifying, defining and prioritising business needs/problems, and then defining feasible solutions.
  • Ability to write clear, detailed technical requirements for engineers around leveraging data into existing or new features.
  • Experience with Python or Data analytics.
  • Knowledge of SQL and databases is preferred.
  • Excellent command over Excel and other collaboration tools
  • Ability to work independently, but also within an interdisciplinary team.
