An Introduction to Primer

Primer is the unified infrastructure for global payments. We give finance and payments teams the visibility and control to reduce complexity, improve performance, and capture more revenue - all from a single platform.
Backed by Sofina, Peak XV Partners, ICONIQ, Tencent, Accel, and Balderton, we're building the payments layer the world's best companies rely on.

Which team will you be joining?

Primer is payments infrastructure, a category that is technical and very easy to make dull. The brand's job is to make something genuinely complex feel sharp, confident and human, and to do it without slipping into the same generic look every fintech reaches for.

You will own how Primer looks and feels across its brand and marketing surfaces. You will sit in the Design team and work hand in glove with Marketing, turning strategy and launches into work that actually lands. The team is small and deliberately high-calibre, remote-first and globally distributed.

This is a hands-on senior craft role. You will report into our Head of Design and partner closely with the people running campaigns, product marketing and events.

What will you be doing?
  • Own Primer's brand expression across web, campaigns, product marketing, social, events and sales collateral.

  • Evolve and extend the visual identity and brand system so it scales as Primer grows without flattening into template work.

  • Take creative on the flagship moments, launches, campaigns and events, from concept through to shipped.

  • Partner with Marketing to turn strategy into work that moves the people it is meant to reach, not just work that looks good.

  • Set the craft bar for brand output and hold it. Originality and taste are the job.

  • Work fluidly across layout, typography, motion and illustration. Range matters more than narrow specialism at this size.

  • Keep brand and product design coherent where the two meet, so Primer feels like one company across every surface.

What we're looking for

Must-haves:

  • A portfolio of strong brand and visual design across digital and campaign work, with range and taste clearly evident.

  • The ability to own brand work end to end, from concept to shipped, without close direction.

  • Real craft depth in typography, layout and visual systems. You set the standard, you do not just work within one.

  • Experience building or extending a brand system, not only executing inside someone else's.

  • Brand work in a technical or B2B context that proves you can make a complex category feel compelling.

Nice to have:

  • Motion, illustration or web design ability.

  • Experience with fintech, payments or developer-facing brands.

You may not like it here
  • The category is technical and unglamorous on the surface. Making payments infrastructure feel exciting is harder than consumer brand work, and that is the actual job.

  • High autonomy, low direction. Nobody will hand you a tight brief and art-direct every step. You set the bar and own the output.

  • Small team, broad remit. You will move across formats and disciplines rather than going deep in one lane.

  • Remote-first and asynchronous. Self-direction is the role, not a benefit.

✅ A typical interview process
  • An initial intro call with a Talent Partner

  • An interview with the Hiring Manager

  • Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role

  • A final, values-alignment interview
