Job Description

At Motorola Solutions, we build the technologies our customers refer to as their lifelines. Our advanced technology platforms across communications, software, video, and services empower first responders and enterprise teams to work safely and with maximum efficiency. Bring your passion, potential, and unique talents to Motorola Solutions, and become an integral part of shaping the next era in public safety and security.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bid Manager to drive this transformation. In this role, you will lead and coordinate the complete end-to-end bid process, ensuring high-quality, compliant responses to Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and complex public/private tenders. Partnering closely with Sales, Project Management, and Technical teams, you will champion customer-aligned proposals, apply sound commercial judgment, and maximize our win rate. Your ultimate goal is to deliver compelling, competitive solutions that optimize project costs while robustly protecting business margins. Additionally, you will monitor bid progress, manage risks, and efficiently resolve or escalate challenges to key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-End Bid Management: Oversee the full bid lifecycle from qualification and strategy development through to final contract award, supporting sales teams in partner identification and value proposition definition.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Assemble and manage virtual, multidisciplinary bid teams. Successfully interface with diverse departments, including Sales, Systems Engineering, Project Management, Bid & Quote, Procurement, Product Groups, Finance, Legal, and Strategy.

  • Opportunity Analysis: Deeply understand opportunity dynamics, including customer requirements, strict timelines, cost structures, risk profiles, product features, and competitive landscapes.

  • Market & Compliance Expertise: Maintain an exceptional understanding of the market, product portfolios, and European Tendering rules to ensure that proposals are compliant, commercially sound, and aligned with company strategy.

  • Governance & Accountability: Define clear Responsibility Matrices and Statements of Work (SoW) for internal organizational structures, external partners, and sub-contractors.

  • Partner & Vendor Management: Collaborate closely with Procurement to select, evaluate, and integrate strategic partners and sub-contractors.

  • Planning & Financials: Develop robust project implementation plans, accurate cost projections, and detailed financial baselines.

  • Quality & Design Control: Coordinate design and content inputs to guarantee that all written documentation, presentations, and live demonstrations are clear, eye-catching, professionally formatted, and of the highest quality.

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify, assess, and manage operational and financial risks throughout the bid process, establishing viable mitigation action plans.

  • Executive Governance: Prepare and present high-quality deliverables and financial metrics to senior management to facilitate informed bid/no-bid decisions.

  • Post-Sale Transition: Ensure a seamless, comprehensive professional handover of won bids to the Post-Sale project delivery organization.

Basic Requirements
  • Experience: Approximately 3–5 years of dedicated Pre-Sales bid management experience, leading complex bid teams. Experience in the telecommunications industry or a strong project management background (overseeing cost, scope, schedule, and risk) is highly preferred.

  • Executive Presence: Comfortable and effective when presenting to and collaborating with CEO and Director-level executives, both internally and externally.

  • Adaptability: Thrives in a dynamic, agile, and deeply technical organization supporting a rapidly expanding customer base.

  • Core Soft Skills: A dedicated team player with stellar communication, negotiation, and commercial skills, possessing a proven ability to work under pressure and hit tight deadlines.

  • Leadership: Strong independent leadership, analytical capability, organizational prowess, and strategic sound judgment.

  • Mindset: A self-driven, motivated professional with a winning "can-do" attitude.

  • Financial Acumen: Practical financial management experience covering estimation, budgeting, strategic pricing, and risk assessment models.

  • Education: University Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering (preferably Communications, Computer Science, Software), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required. Professional proficiency or fluency in additional languages (e.g., German) will be highly valued.

  • Technical Proficiency: High competence in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) as well as Google Workspace cloud-based collaboration tools.
