About our Team

The Marketing Technology (AdTech) stack powers our marketing acquisition and retention strategy. Our current marketing stack consists of data pipelines that send data from Remitly to our ad partners and receive data from them. Team contributes to and improves an integrated marketing technology stack encompassing AdTech, data instrumentation, lifecycle tech, and marketing automation. They will enhance systems for optimizing ad spend, refine data-driven decision-making processes, improve targeted customer engagement capabilities, and expand marketing task automation. Their work will focus on evolving the existing ecosystem to further boost marketing efficiency and effectiveness.

Our technology stack includes GoLang, Spark (Scala), AWS (with emphasis on SQS and SNS), Lakehouse architecture, SQLMesh. We’re seeking software engineers who excel at building robust applications and can adapt to new technologies as needed. Strong fundamentals in software development are crucial, while specific experience with our stack is a plus but not required.

The position reports to the AdTech engineering manager, who is locally based.

You Will:

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that transfer marketing signals between Remitly and ad partners (Meta, Google, TikTok, etc.)

  • Implement and evolve features within our Lakehouse architecture to support attribution, audience segmentation, and ad spend optimization

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in SQL, GoLang and/or Spark (Scala), with an eye toward scalability and reliability

  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and marketing stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

  • Contribute to system design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions across the AdTech stack

  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies — sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives

  • Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline health, proactively identifying and resolving data quality or latency issues

  • Stay current with AdTech industry trends (e.g. privacy-preserving measurement, cookieless tracking) and propose improvements accordingly

  • Take end-to-end ownership of tasks — from scoping and design to delivery and monitoring — with minimal supervision

You Have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering, with a strong data engineering focus or significant hands-on work with data systems

  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose language (Go, Java, Kotlin, C#, Python); hands-on Go or Scala experience is a strong plus

  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, data pipeline design, and event-driven architectures (experience with SQS/SNS or similar messaging systems is a bonus)

  • Familiarity with SQL and working with large-scale data platforms or Lakehouse environments - a background as a Data Engineer, or close collaboration with data teams, is a significant advantage

  • Grounding in software engineering fundamentals — design patterns, algorithms, testing, and code maintainability

  • Clear demonstration of a product and delivery mindset. Strong prioritisation and decision-making skills, confidently handling ambiguity and making informed trade-offs to deliver value efficiently

  • Ability to work effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders

  • Bonus: prior exposure to AdTech/Marketing concepts such as conversion APIs, pixel tracking, identity resolution, or campaign attribution
