Your Role: Assurance Engineer 

 

Based within the Global Outdoor Operations team and reporting to the Head of Engineering Assurance, this role plays a key part in delivering major CAPEX projects across our Outdoor business. Supporting the delivery of high-quality advertising assets, you’ll help bring ambitious projects to life and contribute to the continued growth and success of our estate. 

 

Supporting the delivery of high-quality advertising assets, you’ll provide technical assurance across a varied portfolio of projects spanning TfL, Large Format Advertising, Network Rail, Roadside, BT and Airport environments. You’ll act as a trusted assurance voice, helping ensure that designs, installations, handovers, and contractor activities meet the required technical, regulatory, and safety standards.  

If you’re a detail-oriented Assurance Engineer with experience in technical governance, design assurance, construction compliance, inspections, and contractor oversight, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a visible impact across some of the UK’s most high-profile outdoor infrastructure. 

In this role, you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Partnerships, contractors, specialist designers, and operational teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved standards and best practice. You’ll review design submissions, monitor technical compliance, support quality assurance processes, and provide engineering assurance through delivery and handover. 

You’ll also help promote consistency, continuous improvement, and strong engineering governance across the wider estate, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical excellence, assurance discipline, and practical project insight in a fast-moving environment. 

As an Assurance Engineer at Global, you will: 

Engineering Assurance, Compliance & Governance 

  • Review engineering designs and technical submissions to ensure compliance with relevant technical, regulatory, and operational standards. 

  • Provide assurance support to Project Managers to help align technical delivery with project requirements and business objectives. 

  • Track engineering assurance activities across multiple projects, identifying risks, gaps, or non-conformances early and supporting effective resolution. 

  • Support robust handover standards, ensuring Health & Safety files and technical documentation are accurate, complete, and suitable for transition into operations. 

  • Work closely with the Head of Engineering Assurance and wider engineering teams to drive quality, consistency, and best practice across the Outdoor estate. 

  • Maintain clear visibility of assurance status, technical issues, and delivery risks with key internal and external stakeholders. 

Design Review & Technical Approval 

  • Review and comment on engineering, structural, electrical, and aesthetic designs, engaging specialist disciplines where required. 

  • Ensure designs comply with British Standards, as well as rail, airport, roadside, and any other applicable industry standards. 

  • Challenge and improve proposed solutions where required to ensure they are safe, buildable, maintainable, and appropriate for site and operational conditions 

  • Verify that technical approvals, design changes, and assurance records are captured and controlled appropriately. 

Inspection, Quality Assurance & Site Compliance 

  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and assurance checks to monitor quality, compliance, and alignment with approved designs and methods. 

  • Identify and escalate defects, technical issues, and non-compliance matters, supporting timely close-out and corrective action. 

  • Provide practical engineering assurance during installation and commissioning activities where needed. 

  • Support safe delivery by verifying that contractor documentation, risk assessments, method statements, and associated controls are appropriate for the works being undertaken. 

Stakeholder & Contractor Assurance 

  • Work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure technical expectations are clear and consistently met. 

  • Develop and report on Assurance KPIs to identify emerging risks and areas of opportunity. 

  • Communicate assurance requirements in a practical and constructive way to support smooth coordination and successful delivery. 

  • Bring a balanced and commercially aware approach to assurance, understanding the wider impact of technical decisions on programme delivery and asset performance. 

  • Support the consistent application of contractor management and assurance processes across works delivered on behalf of Global.

What You’ll Need 

  • Technical Assurance Experience: Proven experience in engineering assurance, technical review, compliance, or quality oversight within project delivery, ideally in civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering environments. 

  • Engineering & Construction Knowledge: Strong practical understanding of engineering management, design assurance, and construction delivery processes. 

  • Inspection & Compliance: Experience carrying out inspections, audits, technical reviews, or assurance checks during construction, installation, or commissioning phases. 

  • Standards & Regulation: Demonstrated ability to assess and assure projects in line with British Standards and, where relevant, rail, highway, roadside, or airport standards. 

  • Contractor Oversight: Experience working with contractors and suppliers, reviewing documentation, monitoring compliance, and supporting safe and effective delivery. 

  • Risk & Issue Management: Able to identify technical risks, non-conformances, and quality concerns early, and help drive appropriate mitigation and close-out actions. 

  • Capital Projects Experience: Experience supporting large-scale CAPEX projects, rollout programmes, or multi-site infrastructure delivery. 

  • Communication Skills: A confident communicator, able to engage a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Attention to Detail & Time Management: Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities across a live project portfolio. 

  • Adaptability & Composure: Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and able to remain calm, practical, and effective under pressure. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Construction-related qualification or a degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or associated Engineering subject 

  • Experience working in an assurance, compliance, inspections, or technical governance capacity 

  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015, including safe construction delivery and documentation controls (ideal) 

  • SMSTS, IOSH, or NEBOSH qualification(beneficial/desirable depending on level) 

  • Experience of NEC contracts or similar delivery frameworks (desirable) 

  • Working towards professional accreditation or further engineering / construction qualifications (desirable)
