BlackRock is a pioneer of using quantitative techniques and sophisticated models to improve the performance of its Securities Lending business.

Why is your role important?

We are actively seeking an outstanding teammate to join our Securities Lending Trading team based in London. With a focus on cutting-edge technology and embedded research, our investment management approach to lending provides superior performance for our clients and is an important part of the BlackRock brand. In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, BlackRock is a pioneer of using quantitative techniques and sophisticated models combined with fundamental insights from traders to increase the performance of its Securities Lending business. We will look to you to actively contribute and drive the continued development.

Our Securities Lending Traders execute a critical role in relation to alpha generation and cost minimisation for scientific, fundamental and index products. We partner with portfolio managers to optimise returns through a variety of trade types. Traders represent the firm for a selective group of markets or asset classes. What will you be doing?

  • Actively trade and optimise BlackRock's EMEA Equities and/or Fixed Income securities lending book for clients. You will be directly responsible for revenue generation and active performance management.
  • Actively build and implement trading strategies based on analysis of companies, sectors, and market variables. You will deliver market-leading returns in a risk-aware and controlled manner.
  • Be an excellent internal and external partner! You will build and strengthen relationships across BlackRock and the securities lending and financing marketplace.
  • Build and lead partnerships with internal teams, including our global trading team to help drive efficiencies to improve revenue, performance and mitigate risks.
  • Be responsible for day-to-day administrative issues in support of trading activities and liaise with trading operations.
  • Work with internal Quantitative Research and Algorithmic Trading groups to innovate systems, trading analytics, and coordinate implementation.
  • Manage risk with strong attention to even the smallest details.

What are we looking for?

  • An outstanding teammate! Excellent communicator with first-class relationship management skills is a given. You are also self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and positive, team-orientated outlook.
  • 2+ years of experience in Equities, Fixed Income, Securities Lending, Financing markets, Delta One, Prime Services or a related trading or financing role is preferred. Knowledge of EMEA markets is advantageous.
  • Experience analysing corporate actions and event-driven situations to identify pricing and relative value opportunities within securities lending and financing markets is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience using SQL, Python, VBA or Business Objects is also preferred.
